Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.
Subject: Re: Kody's Eye - Update! Fri Dec 21, 2012 1:00 am
As per what Brooke said. Keep out of the sunlight. If you've ever had your pupils dilated and went into the sun it hurts a lot because of the sensory overload to the effected pupil.

Yeah we've been keeping the house as dark as possible too. He woke up and was actually opening his eye a bit, but when he went outside to potty he had it closed. He was out for about 10min because it was gloomy and then I made him come back in.
The eye is really wet and woke up with some dried up gunk in the corner
The Tobramycin will help! Even if its not an ulcer, it could be an infection or conjunctivitis (I work for an opthalmologist, and that is what we prescribe for infections of the sort.) He looks awful but make sure you use those drops religiously just like the vet said and give it a few days before you expect results. It takes a minute for stuf like that to clear up. Especially infections. Also, if the other eye starts to look bad, call your vet because it can travel between eyes.. Conjunctivitis is very contagious. Especially if was pawing his face. Poor thing hope he gets better.

Thank you so much for the input! Definitely makes me feel better Especially since I was already freaking out because it wasn't better this morning. Hasn't even been 24hrs

I don't have any experience with this, but Koda's poor twin! Give his eye some kisses from me. One of our chis has no tear ducts in her left eye and always has the little squint like that and goop building up! Hopefully it clears up quickly. Good luck keeping the red devil off of him.. I know Rogue would not be cooperative!
Kodys eye is pretty much back to normal Took him for his follow up appointment on Saturday and the vet (our regular vet is back...thank goodness) said that he had a tiny bit of the ulcer left and that we should continue the drops through the 31st. He gave us some new drops to put in twice a day which should clear up the "grey/haziness". He's been on those drops for 2 days now and looking much much better

He's doing much better, but hasn't been cleared to start therapy yet. He has a doctors appointment next Thursday so hopefully they'll give him the go a head. One of the issues that I think might be a problem is that he can't move his toes so when he puts a shoe on he can't stretch them out. They're sort of bent inside the shoe and it hurts him. If that makes any sense. I'm hoping that once he starts putting weight on the leg that his toes will stretch out on their own.
