This morning right before leaving for work I noticed Kodys eye was closed and really gooky looking. I didn't notice this right when I woke up so I don't know if it's infected, he hurt himself in the yard, or hurt it while playing with Asia. He kept messing with it (think it itches) so i left him with the cone of shame and out of his crate. I just got home to check on him and it's worse. Taking him to the vet at 2pm. They said they didn't have any appointments, but I made them fit us in. Now I have to drive back to downtown to get money from hubby b/c I have none. He says we should wait to take him in, but I'm not having it. Something is definitely up
Look....

Poor kody. we've had that problem with some cats we took in. They're eyes would be mostly closed with lots of goobers. One was really bad and was sealed shut by the goobers, they had colds and the vet gave us this stuff to squeeze into their eyes and rub in.
Oh and it wasn't the colds that caused it, they had an eye infection.

More then not its inflammation from rough play, just takes a while to show up. As Chris said flush. I use saline solution that contact lens user have on Adobo quite often.
Odin was getting it a lot a few months back. 3x day flushes with saline helped clear it. He is always kicking dirt when he uses the bathroom so he gets it all the time from stuff that flies into his eyes. Of course eye drops are always nice to have on hand.
What did the vet say? I hope it's nothing too traumatizing. Hopefully a flush or some antibiotic eye drops should clear that right up! Sending good vibes Kody's way!
Sorry it's taken me a while to post guys. It's been non stop. Well, Kody has an ulcer in his eye The vet said that he probably hurt it playing with Asia. I have to give him these meds for 10 days and take him back. Meantime he gets to sport the cone of shame and NO playing with Asia How in the world am I'm going to a) stop them and b) tire Asia out so that she leaves him alone...she's constantly provoking him to play.
Antibiotic drops (Tobramycin)
Atropine Sulfate Ophthalmic Solution.... used in the eye to dilate the pupil. This effect is useful in reducing pain after cataract surgery or eye injury and is also useful in treating glaucoma.
Metacam (Meloxicam) for the pain. I just gave it to him about 45min ago with dinner and now he seems kind of drosy. He's sleeping in bed and when he opens his eyes the good eye rolls back a little. I'm going to make him get in a bit and see if he's acting normal. I just found this link and I don't think I'm going to give it to him again...
Omg so sru to hear this! Poor guy! Also make sure that he isn't in direct sunlight and is in a dim environment. It'll help the eye heal faster. I don't know if your vet mentione that or not, but thought I mention that. It always makes me sad when others babies are hurting
Brooke, yep she did mention it. Said that the light would bother him because his pupils will be dilated due to the Atropine drops. I don't know if it's me or not, but his other eye seems kind of off too. Ivan says it's just because he's sleepy, but I don't know. If the other eye has something then it's obviously not an ulcer and she's crazy I want my regular vet back!
Thanks guys. This is heartbreaking. He's in obvious discomfort and hates the cone. When I take it off he immediately starts pawing at the eye so it must stay on Not to mention that our yard is 85% dirt right now so if any of them run the dirt is floating around everywhere. That can't be good for his eye! I have to let him out and follow him around until he potties and right back in the house he goes. Asia is going to be extremely hard to control with him!
The girls went and laid next to him
