| We were out with Karli the other day (short 15min walk around the neighborhood, gets her out and we enjoy it) and someone asked if she was a mini-husky. What is that? I've seen crosses and stuff, but there's actual mini-husky breed right?
I also just found out a guy my hubby works with was disappointed we got a girl because he wants to breed his shiba-inu female. No thanks, not gonna contribute to that issue. |

| The Klee Kai is like a mini husky, that might be what they're referring to. They range from like 17-30ish pounds I believe. I think there's a thread with a whole bunch of info on them, but I'm on my phone so I can't go find it very easily, but try searching them Some of them are cute, but some of them are pretty frightening, lol |

| A lot of people ask me if Yuki is a mini husky. I practically yell NO! Around here, the mini husky is a breed sold at the mall that is commonly a siberian husky x american eskimo cross. People are just told that these dogs are a breed called 'mini huskies', not that they're mixes, and I've seen about two or three mini huskies at my nearby dog park. Side note - I actually had a lady talking to me about dogs at work the other day, when she mentioned 'I want a pomsky so bad. Have you heard about them? They looks like huskies but are small like pomeranians.' I think I almost strangled her for her ignorance, but all I did was retort that I would never, ever buy a so called 'pomsky' and that I prefer the full siberian. She gave me a look and left XD |

| There are also Pomskies which are Huskies and Pomeranians mixed together. This is the Klee Kai: http://www.foxxakk.com/August%203,%202007%20090.JPG?0.3309487344979484
And this is a Pomsky: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/pomskies# |

| O my gosh!!! I'm sorry if anyone has one here but those things are creepy. They aren't cute at all! How could you do that? And its not natural...birthing a mix has to be hard on a pom female. And a male pom couldn't mount a husky so that has to be total human intervention there. I like my husky big, like she's supposed to be! |

| Well, there's a couple here that own a Great Pyrenees (must be mixed since it has tan spots) and a most likely American Cocker Spaniel. Those two had pups and they say it was an accident... But the mother is the GP and the father is the cocker... So it IS possible, but very difficult I would imagine! |

| At the same time, I'm mad but think they're adorable. That first picture of the Pomsky looks like a hedgehog. Still, I hate what people have done with dog breeding. After getting our last Yorkie years ago and got educated on breeding, overpopulation, abuse, overfilled rescues and pounds, I will never "buy" a dog again. We've started working with a local rescue group here that specializes in Huskies and we've really enjoyed working with the dogs and helping to get them adopted. We've adopted an Eskie, a blind husky, and a husky puppy that came from the pound with her mother...very gratifying. Tired of the designer dogs. |

| Pomskies are disgusting and the way the breeders are acting like this is a recognized and safe thing to do makes me want to spit in their faces. We have a thread on pomskies somewhere, and the general gist was what a crock of shit and money gimmick. They charge 3-4x more than you'd pay for some of the best lines in the husky community.
Klee kais are nice looking when standard, anything below standard starts looking a bit like a chihuahua/husky gross. I've met a few and they personally did not appeal to me, though obviously their disposition lays on the owner. The ones I've met are not anywhere near as outgoing and friendly as sibes, which is why I love the breed so much.
I get asked all the time is Ro is a "mini husky" since she's only 28lbs. I actually had a sales male at my door tell me she was one, and I said "no such thing," "no there is--" *slams door* haha. She looking nothing like a klee kai, either. She's just widdle. |

Back in my day we called cross breeds mutts. They were generally the result of 'an accident' and people could barely give them away. That people purposely do it and then dupe the public into thinking it's some rare thing that should cost a ridiculously high price really steams me up. As for the KKs... properly bred ones do resemble huskies, but that's where the similarity stops. Their personality is nothing like a husky, and referring to them as a mini husky is kind of insulting. I only hope that it doesn't 'catch on'. A lot of people have never heard of them, and I hope it stays that way. KKs really are not that good with children, and I worry that people will start buying them thinking they want a smaller breed for their kids to play with. /end rant |

| We had a designer dog, he was a toy Aussie. He was a pretty okay dog except for the fact that he hated other dogs. He would attack them if they got too close, he was okay if they just left him alone. I think we lucked out with looks, some of the other toy Aussie's I've seen look a little weird. I am defiantly not going to get another designer dog, i'll just stick with huskies. He was a really good looking little dog. |

| That's what I was thinking just wanted to make sure. I was actually very offended that the lady asked if Karli was one and I'm pretty sure I gave her the most disgusted look. I've had mutts as a kid, they were great dogs, but passing them off as something else is just horrible. Also, I was told once by one of my friend's mom's that the neighbor's dog (a small breed) died when a big dog tried to mate with it. Wouldn't this happen with a Pom and a husky? - Quote :

This is one the biggest misconceptions I've ever heard of. Little dogs are not a good idea for kids. My mom got a Chihuahua when my little brother was 2, thinking they would grow up together and be great friends. That dog hated my little brother. Did not like being picked up, did not want little kids touching her, which ended up with her nipping at three of them and my dad taking her back to the breeder (they had her for ten yrs, the breeder was a neighbor, and my brother is only 12, so there are always little kids at the house). I see small dogs as being good dogs for old people, not so much for little kids. - Quote :

He was a very good looking dog and there is nothing wrong with mutts (especially the accidental ones) but to try to make them a breed is just sad. |

| I have a couple AKK breeders on my radar for when we get another dog ( of course not for awhile) but i agree, the byb ones are nothing more than chihuahua with husky type markings and are just horrible to look at. the breeders i have found, their dogs look like small huskies. if you seen pictures of puppies or just random pictures, if you didn't have anything to show size relation, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the AKK and husky. |

| I personally do not agree with all this mixing and matching of dog breeds. I do not think the AKK are cute, I agree with Len that their eyes most of the time look creepy. There is a place around here charging 1800 for AKK and getting that price all the time. I feel the same way about Morkies, Teddy Bears, and the like.
If a mutt mix just happens that is one thing, and I have had many mutts that were absolute dolls. But to pay so much money for what amounts to a mutt is ridiculous. |

I got to play with some AKK puppies and they were adorable, but then again all puppies are cute!! |

Are they like a AK47? Give me the .416 Rigby, I don't think they're timid. |
