| Friday morning Saphire got the all clear from the vet following her surgery (She just got spayed two weeks ago). So we took our first trip to the dog park this weekend.
First a little bragging . . . I am a super happy husky mom because Saphire was an angel at the dog park. She didn't jump on any of the humans, she interacted perfectly with all of the dogs (including the two tea cup chihuhuas in the big dog area), and she listened to every command I gave.
Now to the question . . . About twenty minutes into our first visit (we made two this weekend) a gentleman (can't remember his name) showed up with what looked to me like a husky named Kojo (gentleman said he is actually husky/german shepard mix but he looked husky to me and Saphire.)
So Kojo and Saphire spent maybe 30 seconds sniffing each other and were immediately connected. I mean their demeanor's completely changed. They were running in perfect harmony (Despite the fact that Kojo is about twice as tall as Saphire, He's full grown), playing differently the whole bit. Everyone in the dog park noticed. I have to say it was kind of amazing to watch. I thought it was a fluke but Kojo was there the second time we went also and it was the same thing all over again.
So at first I just assumed they had become fast friends. But the more I thought about it, I began to wonder if it didn't have something to do with the breeds history.
So just curious to see if anyone else has ever had a similar experience?
and
Whether you have or not, whats your opinion, just fast friends or is it husky attraction? |

| It could be a little bit of both. Whenever I take the pups to the dog park, if there are other huskies there, they pack together. I know when Jenn and I get out four together, Demon wants to play with Sierra and Dakota wants to play/harass Jack, so it could also be an opposite sex thing too. Regardless, it's always fun to watch. |

| Tika does this with a few dogs in particular. One is a male husky that lives in the area, when they walk by and we let her see him they go wild together. Every now and then at the dog park too she sees one that is a husky mix and they play together and iognore all other dogs. We haven't seem Ripley do it with any dog in particular, but Tika definately has her favourites. For some reason she also loves great danes....its like she's fascinated by them.

| I noticed a special Husky attraction on Anubis several times. Surre it can be just imagination but I believe Huskies behave different among each other than with other dogs. |

| I had one situation that was extreme . First I have to say Anubis is neutered. A few months ago we met a female Husky tht wa sin heat. Anubis went completely nuts, stalking and sniffing her. he never did this before with other dogs in heat. |

| I've definitely noticed, when we have husky meets at the dog park, the huskies all stick together and play with each other. |

| I have a husky that does not pack with the other huskies when at the dog park.. He will run with my other Husky but doesn't seem to want to play with the other huskies at the dog park. Of course he is very laid back lately. Kerian is helping bring him out of his shell.
Now Kerian with run and play with other huskies at the dog park. |

| Chili doesn't but Frosti definitely does. The huskies seem to "get" each other and have similar play styles. Same with the husky mixes and some of the shepherds, too. All the big pointy eared dogs. They play well with the tiny Shiba, too - since the Shiba can hold her ground against the big dogs. They play well with other dogs too (especially high energy breeds like these two young goldens that come to daycare), but there's a special craziness that happens when the pointy earreds get together. |
