| When I first got Freya she had the most gorgeous ears. Fhey were floppy like the mastiff but were the possitioning of the husky. Not that I mind because I think she's special no matter what kind of ears she has. But within the last week or so her ears have begun to straighten. They now stand mostly erect. One ear's tip still isnt 100% straight, but I'm almost certain that given time it will stand straight. Before (about a month ago) After (This morning - She was asleep, I woke her up so she wasnt too impressed lol) Now if you'll take a look at the colouring of her nose in both the before and after pics, you'll see that in the after pic her nose is going from a dark brown/black to a liver colour. I was wondering if this is normal. I know that dogs especially Huskies coats change as they get older but these to me seem pretty dramatic changes. Her ears changing shape and her nose changing colour. |

| The reason why her ears were probably floppy, was due to her teething, and now that she's almost done, they're standing. Also the liver coloring on the nose is called "snow nose" It's all normal |

| She hasnt lost any teeth yet, and none are wobbly. She's only 3.5 months old. When do they usually start to teeth? She has a few molars starting to come through where there was olny bare gum before, but thats all I've seen of adult teeth. |

| The ears flopping and then straightening up is completely normal, there are a number or reasons it could happen. It could be due to when the pups are still with the litter mates and they play, they usually chew on each others ears, so it causes them to flop , but as time progresses and the pup grows up it usually fixes itself, it could also be teething as jennet said.
We have had 2 pups from our litters who, over the 8weeks we had them, got Floppy ears, we had them looked at by our vet and he re-assured us that it is most likely from the rough and tumble play of the litter mates chewing on the pups ears, he said it will most likely fix itself over time. We kept in contact with the new owners of the pups to make sure everything was going well, and within 6-7 months both pups ears had corrected themselves and were fully erect again.
She is at an age where her ears and nose will be quite dis-proportionate to the rest of her face, her ears will be big and she will look like yoda, then her nose will grow out (sometimes it happens at the same time). So i imagine she is going through a stage where her ears are growing and in turn this is causing them to fix themselves up and straighten, as her face and nose is changing the colouring of the nose may also change, that colour change is very normal also, it is different for each pup.
I hope this helps, this is just what i have found from our 3 Huskies and previous litters of pups, perhaps someone else may be able to clarify it also. |

| Thats very helpful, thanks I googled snow nose, and it said it's possibly a reaction to eating out of plastic bowls so I'm going to go get her ceramic bowls when I get to the store. It also said to watch out in hotter climates. Well thats me! It's winter and it's 21 degrees celcius (69.8 degrees fahrenheit). What should I do to stop her getting a burned nose? Can I put sunscreen on it, or would that be dangerous to her internal organs if she licks it off? |

| Not too sure about treatment or prevention of Burnt noses on dogs, we have never had it happen. My partner used to work at a Vets practice and my his father used to breed, show, rescue and care for various dog breeds, and had been doing it for most of his life, so he has probably come across it before, i will ask them and let you know what they say.
I know that there are natural remedies and medicated remedies which can be used, but i am not sure what is safe and what is not, so i do not want to say until i ask. I probably wouldn't use sunscreen (not the ones that we use on humans anyway), only because of the chemicals that is used in sunscreen, it may cause an unpleasant reaction. Perhaps someone on the forum has used sunscreen on their dogs before? |

| Well apparently Vitamin E works well, i did some reading up on dogs noses getting sunburned and i have found the following: Vitamin E One way to heal your dog's burned nose is to break open a vitamin E capsule, squeeze out the oil, and dab it onto his nose once or twice a day. Vitamin E is an antioxidant with healing properties. It can help heal your dog's nose and keep it from scarring
Sunscreen: Forget about sunscreen for dogs and get a natural sunscreen for babies and use it on your fur-baby! Avalon Organics has a sunscreen called Avalon Organics Baby Natural Mineral Sunscreen, SPF 18. I can recommend it for the following reasons: It has an SPF (sun protection factor) of 18 (you should look for sunscreens with an SPF of 15 or higher for your dog) It is a lotion, not a spray The main ingredient is Titanium dioxide It is Paraben free It is fragrance free It contains a lot of natural ingredients good for the skin, such as sunflower and jojoba seed oils, organic green tea leaf, chamomile flower, calendula flower and ginkgo leaf extracts, aloe juice, vitamin E, and so on.
Aloe vera is something you are able to use as well, but make sure its just aloe vera, straight from the plant or just a gel, not a spray or moistouriser.
Hope that helps lovely, its what i found while searching the subject. There are quite a few websites online that have information on it, but a lot of them are for body sunburns, not too much for noses where they can lick it off. |

| Thanks so much Sammie for taking to time to research all of that for me I appreciate it. I have got really sensative skin myself, so can only use select kinds of products. I'll go check the ones that I do have and see if they are ok for Freya. If not I'll go to the chemist first thing tomorrow. Thanks again |
