Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. 1 Yr Old Husky Pooping/Peeing in Kennel Empty
PostSubject: 1 Yr Old Husky Pooping/Peeing in Kennel   1 Yr Old Husky Pooping/Peeing in Kennel EmptyTue Oct 09, 2018 10:14 pm

I have a Husky that is 11 months old currently. I adopted him from a woman that purchased him as a puppy. I adopted him around 7 months old and he was freely roaming his old house and pooping/peeing & tearing things up with no supervision. Old owner was barely home and did not take much care of him. I have had him since then and introduced him to the crate when I got him which went okay. He peed in the crate a few times when I first started using it. Over the past month, he has started peeing or pooping in his crate consistently (almost every day). I work full time so in the morning I let him out. I come home on my lunch usually 4 hours into the day and let him out for about 15 minutes. Then I let him out after work, so he is in his crate for 4 hours at a time. Also, he poops in the basement occasionally which is unfinished. Today, I gave him a bath after he pooped in his crate and afterwards he peed in my room in front of me which has never happened. I am not sure what to do and don't know if the crate is the issue, potty training or separation anxiety. Also, when I first used the crate he escaped multiple times until I ziptied all the areas together he was escaping from. The weather where I live has changed to be rainy in the last month so unsure if that has something to do with it.

Sometimes the weather can be a challenge for dogs that aren't as well potty trained as we would like and haven't had consistent potty training from early on. When he's going out before you go to work are you seeing him pee? Or do you let him out in the backyard and not watch him? I've had this issue with one of my boys. He goes out but doesn't want to get off the porch so he just chills on the porch and so comes in not having peed which means he is prime for an accident. I force him off the porch now regardless which has helped. Mine are in about 10 hours at a time and no accidents. Also might be worth checking for a UTI. They will make them pee even when they normally wouldn't need to. If you rule out a UTI the weather could be a culprit if your dog doesn't like being out in it.
