| Hello! I'm Byron and my wife Amanda and I are probably like most of you...super-obsessive sibe owners! Sushi and Mochi are not just our young huskies...they are our kids. I'm not even joking. Both of them are a bit over a year old now. They aren't from the same litter - in fact, they are from different states. Three week age difference, got both when they were 8 weeks old. They are sibblings, lovers and soulmates. So in a little over a year, here's a list of some of their experiences (and upcoming experiences): - Items destroyed: ...my wallet, complete with cash, IDs and credit cards eaten ...two dog beds ...two area rugs ...chewed up the ottoman and pulled out the stuffing ...chewed holes in the new couch and pulled out the stuffing ...destroyed sunglasses, destroyed headphones, destroyed hats ...chewed up the plastic tray in their crate (now have a metal one which is awesome) ...any food item left within standing/jumping range of course are consumed, we've had one slight chocolate scare but generally anything that goes in the mouth eventually comes out the other end! - Have been through three rounds of puppy training (tricks class is up next). This is more for us than them...they keep passing but we know it is only because they are cute - Countless dog park trips and a 6 mile walk every Sunday morning...daily morning walks at 4:45 AM sharp (or trust me, there will be consequences!)...also random, crazy, coordinated zoomies around the living room with speed, acrobatics and frenzied talking at any given moment. - They went on an 8 day road trip from KC to the east coast. We stayed in a cabin in the Smokey Mountains outside Gatlinburg. We stayed in a luxury B&B in Asheville. And we stayed in a hotel on the beach in Folly Beach outside of Charleston. So even though we live in the flat-as-a-pancake Midwest, they've been hiking in the mountains and playing on the beach already - They've already been to two Kansas City Royals MLB games. - Monthly trips to the in-laws lake house at Lake of the Ozarks...pool swims, lake swims, boat rides...also lots of sitting inside in the AC during the summer! - We are taking them to the Embassy Suites in Hot Springs, Arkansas at the end of the year to celebrate new years. - Road trip to Colorado next summer. So...while this list would be enough to make a sane person cringe...this is not my first husky rodeo and everything I just listed (yes, even the destruction part) is why we love our huskies so much. To us, the work and the time and the love makes them truly like children. Will be posting photos and adventures in a scrapbook once time allows! Excited to see all the other beatiful sibes and hear a lot of great stories! |

| Ermahgerd!!! Hello! I too am from Kansas city and I too have family near the lake of the Ozarks. Miller county to be precise. Iberia/Tuscumbia area.
Beautiful doggies you have! Ah is this how foreigners feel when they run into someone from the same country?! |

| Our family's house is past Laurie and Sunset Beach. I can never remember what mile marker. But yeah, not far. I do some work from time to time in Eldon and Osage Beach as well. Also what is crazy is we have a cat named...Loki KC's actually got a pretty good sibe community...there is a group that meets almost every weekend that we've been to a couple of times for walks around various parts of the city. Usually between 10-15 huskies...it's quite a sight for random people passing by! |

| Lol that is awesome. What group is it? I know the majority of the H2M2 seems to be in STL. |

| I can't post links yet so just google "let the fur fly kansas city siberian huskies". They have a meetup page and a facebook page (but I think the fb page is by invite only).
They have a video of some of the urban mushing a few of the members do...my kids are not nearly responsive enough for it but it's pretty cool... |

| I live in the Lake of the Ozarks area. I have done Realtor training for some of them in the Sunrise Beach sector and go through there ever so often. Welcome to the forum. _________________ |

| Schweet! Mushing does look pretty cool. Kind of scary though lol.
Are you a member of the Kansas city dog club? They're pretty active and I know there's at least one other husky in it.
What dog parks do you like? I'm a fan of the Shawnee mission dog park but I don't trust its gate lol. I'm on the lookout for another one because Stoll park friggin gave me chiggers last week I think. |

| Does the KC dog club have a webpage? I'm not a member.
Shawnee Mission is by far my favorite but...the pups are still so curious and not so attached to me that it makes me nervous. At the very least, it could take a long time to get them back on leash there. Plus a dog could easily leave the dog park section at certain points. The lake is so fun there though. It's the only place I took my girl Yuki but she was older and so attached to me that she wouldn't go more than 20 feet away without looking to make sure I was around.
I like Stoll in that it is nicely contained but it used to get really muddy at times especially around the drinking fountain. I really like Leawood...nice and open and contained like Stoll and they do a pretty good job of trying to keep it relatively mud free...plus it is right along the Tomahawk and Indian Creek trails. |

I just joined a little bit ago so I can't vouch for them or nothing but they seem nice enough. I went to one event where there weren't very many people and another that was packed lol. I'm gonna check out the flying fur group this evening.
Oh I didn't even think about leawood. I did like their gate system and how easy it was to see from one end of the park to another. Only went once though because of location. We have to do a weird loopy loop to get to it and kept getting lost lol.
Oh I forgot to say earlier but I like your name scheme for the doggies. Makes me hungry though! |
