She's here! Here are some pics from her first couple hours with us.

Sleeping on my lap on the way home. She slept the entire hour-long drive!


She took to me and my husband right away! Here she is playing with him and her new stuffed squeaky eggplant.


This was totally adorable. She crawled right into his lap and fell asleep. Then we put her in her crate, which we'd already introduced her to and fed her in. She cried a little but we laid with her for a little bit until she fell asleep. So far, so good!

Thanks! I'm totally biased but I think she's the cutest thing I've ever seen. My husband's usually the strong, silent type but spending time with Layla really brings out another side of him.

I'm sure I'll post more pics tomorrow of her first full day with us!

She'll be good to go and ready to play in another few weeks, after she gets her second round of shots.

Speaking of which, I took her to the vet today for her first checkup. The vet said she was very healthy and found no issues. She's doing great so far!

More photo's from Layla's first full day at home. She had a couple minor accidents, mostly because I think she was a little stressed or scared or overwhelmed because it was all so new. Otherwise she is very good about going whenever I take her out. We also got some playtime outside today with her new ball, and also some playtime inside with her eggplant squeaky toy. She's happy to follow me everywhere I go and has already learned the command to go in her crate and is working on "sit." I work at home so I've moved my base of operations to the den, which is her playroom and where her crate is, and whenever I'm sitting on the couch working she's happy just to curl up at my feet and fall asleep. She makes a great foot-warmer!

Playtime outside with her new ball! (We have her on a 100-foot lead for now until we install a 6-foot privacy fence around our back yard in the spring. The lead is long enough that she could romp from one end of the yard to the other if she wanted.)

Aw, thanks! She sure has been a big distraction today. So many times I've wanted to stop what I'm doing and just snuggle her.  

I can't wait until we can get them together!

Ps.. How much did she weigh?

She weighed 11 pounds. Not sure if it was 11 pounds exactly or slightly more. Caoimhe weighs 11.2, right?

I can't wait to reunite them, too!

The sisters are about the same size, then. Roxanne and Rachel did a great job caring for them. Arrow's litter is thriving, too.

Last night we must've tuckered little Layla out because she fell asleep on her doggie bed around 9:30 p.m. We woke her at 10:30 to go out one last time for the day. She peed and went back inside. We gave her the command to go in her crate, which she did, and we closed the door and I laid by her until she fell asleep. After about five minutes I got up and left the room. Darren (my husband) was still in the room but she wouldn't have been able to see him if she woke up. She stayed asleep and quiet even after he came upstairs.

She was quiet until around 2 a.m. I'm surprised Darren heard her because her crate is downstairs on the other side of the house from our bedroom. Anyway, he got up and took her out. She went and he put her back in the crate and went upstairs. She cried for a little but eventually calmed down. At 4 he woke up and came down again to let her out. She went and then he let her sleep at the foot of the couch until around 6:30, when they woke up and played for a little. I came down around 7:30. She was SO excited! It was so cute to have her run up on me and smother me in kisses. We played for a little and fed her breakfast.

She's been eating about half her food; the only time she ate the whole bowl was when we brought her home, and that's because she hadn't eaten at her regular time so she wouldn't get sick in the car. We feed her a half-cup in the morning and a half-cup in the evening, mixed with a little water. During the day we give her treats. I may have given her a few too many treats yesterday when we did some training, so today we'll lighten up and see how she eats this evening.

Oh interesting update, I hope you guys can solve the food issue soon... :o

Oh, I have to check out your scrapbook now too! Yes, I'm feeding the Extreme Athlete. I've read huskies won't eat unless they're hungry and no more, so I'm hoping it's that and because I gave her more treats than probably necessary yesterday. She hasn't acted like she's got an upset tummy or anything, so I don't think that's the problem. We'll see how it goes tonight!

Ummm is this a public scrapbook Cortnie?! Lol. I love how small they are I miss Kaia being this small! I'm glad they are both doing so well. Isn't it exciting that she already knows you and gets excited to see you?! Best part of my day is coming home and having Kaia howl at me cuz she's so excited, unconditional love <3

The pictures are adorable, the one on the rug makes me dizzy cuz of the pattern lol. Keep the pics coming!!!

Here are some more pics from last night before she went to sleep. She's getting more active and more brave in exploring her area of the house. She's also crying a lot less when we put her in her crate and she hasn't had an accident in the house in at least the last 24 hours.
