I took a couple (poor-quality) selfies with Layla today after Darren requested them to look at while he's at work. The high-five is one of her "tricks." The kissing she did on her own.
Haha, I tried really hard to get good pics of her "snow angels." She would drop her tennis ball and then roll in it. Sometimes she'd bury her head in the snow and come back out with an all-white face, haha!
What a lovely backyard, Liz. Your own private oasis in the middle of a sea of people! You and Layla and Darren and Tabitha should have many happy times there.
I love the husky snow angels They look so at home and Layla looks in her element!
Is that a chicken wire fence I see in the back in front of the trees and the wood fence?
Snow Angels, oh what fun. Great pics Liz, we keep getting passed over on the snow, everywhere in Texas but here has had some, my poor Miya......btw, I love your selfies

Amy, yep, that's a chicken-wire fence. We put it in because behind it there's a bunch of lily of the valley (poisonous to dogs) and poison ivy that comes up in the spring and stays through fall. That's where Darren and I were trampling when we got the major poison ivy outbreak all over our skin last summer. Eventually we want to come up with a solution back there where we wouldn't need the chicken-wire fence, but those plans probably won't be realized for a while yet. In the meantime, it's worked pretty well and Layla hasn't shown any desire to try to get through it.
We love our yard! I like to think we could have a small dog park back here, haha. I'm looking forward to seeing dog and child playing out there in the future.
Thanks, Renee! We're expecting LOTS more snow tonight and all tomorrow (possibly two feet or more!). I may have to let Layla back out after it's all over and get some pictures of her "swimming" through all the snow, haha.

THAT is a backyard for a Husky I wish mine had that kind of flat space. Layla is just so pretty, I love her face.

One lonely pic but I wanted to post it anyway. Layla has become queen of the hills of snow we have in the back yard. Darren had let her out to potty and she decided to hang out on the snowbank. The snowbanks are right outside the back door and are mostly from all the snow and ice we had taken off the roof last week. Note her snow nose (literally) and the "trails" she's made through the back yard that she runs around and around like a racetrack.

bahahaha husky snow angel. I want a video of that! Okami loves to sit on snow mounds too! Does Layla do the "husky hop" through deep snow? I need to get a video of Okami doing it somehow... It seriously is one of my favorite quirks with these dogs lol.

Haha, yep, Layla does the Husky hop. I took a video of it a few weeks back after we got the first big storm. I realize I neglected to post it in her scrapbook (I think I did in one of the hijacks), so here it is:

Layla is so pretty and dainty Ami has 2 packed snow banks he loves, too. Remnants from snowblowing. While we haven't had the deluge you guys in MA. have, our snow is deep enough that Ami's belly drags through the snow and Archer has to purpoise. Thus, like you, we have the trails - they've become packed and the dogs stick to them. I appreciate it because I have a manageable path up to the compost and to my bees (the dogs like a regular trip daily to watch Mom listen to the hives to see if there is still life )
Closing in on D-day, hang in there Liz, life as you know it is about to change - most wonderfully, I might add

It's been very helpful to have Layla out making her trails in the back yard, too. Now we have places we can walk around! A couple times I've helped her by bringing out my snowshoes and tromping around, too. The ground is still unpredictable, though. Sometimes Layla will run where she thinks she'll have firm ground and ends up sinking face first into a pile of snow.
One week and counting until D-Day! No signs yet but any day now ...

I know that tune! Trudging along on the packed "ridge" and step wrong, blam, another face plant. With dogs play bowing at me...
