| Hello everyone! so I was curious are there any play groups in the Michigan area i am closest to Ohio but I wanted to get Nala involved with more huskies her size age etc she doesn't really have anyone to play and socialize with and I thought maybe there would be one around this area. If anyone knows of any around here or close PLEASE let me know!! Thanks ahead! |

| There is a Husky Huddle Malamute Mingle (H2M2) Group in Michigan and one in Ohio. The Michigan one tends to have a Western Meet (Lansing area) and an Eastern meet (the past couple have been Lake Orion area) each month. I'm in Ann Arbor, so either one is a bit a drive for us so we don't do them much. Here's the link to the Michigan FB group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/224477627577861/
And the Ohio group https://www.facebook.com/groups/510780442274114/ |

| yes the Michigan one is almost always based in the convenience of the administrators, so basically people in detroit area, grand rapids area, and anywhere north are generally excluded unless you want to drive or set up your own |

Agreed. It's kind of frustrating. Also, the one that we went to, people weren't very friendly to new people. Everyone who knew each other from the first meet just huddled together. I introduced myself when we got there and literally no one else returned the intro. They just said "hey" and went back to talking amongst themselves. I know it's still early in the groups conception, but I'm not thrilled so far and definitely won't be making the 1+ hour drive to be ignored. Plus one of the administrator's dogs at the meet we went to was being a problem and she wasn't doing anything about it. |

| Can we just make one is the Metro Detroit Area? haha, I have had that problem at this dog park I had visited the other dogs were mean to Nala and the parents werent very friendly either, maybe because my fiance and I are a younger couple i am not sure but I think it would be fun to have one around here so she could be around other dogs her breed! |

I went to the first one and they were still like that, I really only ended up talking with one person and which is okami's human (lucy). I know exactly what you mean. I have been making remarks on there to a couple of the admins about doing different locations not just lansing and the east side one. I believe they need a non biased admin to take over, one who understands that they cant make it to every one and that some of the meets will be small untill the meets can get around. They just canceled the western meet up for this weekend because "no one rsvp'd" and because she couldnt attend that one....?, they said they were going to do one at the GR location then decided not too as she said because she didnt want people to have to drive an hour....aka her, i have gotten about 5 people from gr to join the group since i have been going up to the dog park thinking that it would be equal for every one not everyone but the admin has to drive an hour....little bit of a rant but o well ...lol... |

| Is there a way to create a group for people who cant make 2 hour drives just to be ignored and not make conversation? I mean I am very interested in getting her socialized with pups her breed. |

| for socialization, i would recommend classes, day care, dog parks. to find other huskys to meet up with you can join the above sight and try to find people from your area, there is a 100+ members there is more then likely a couple from some where around. I go to a local dog park, and there is almost always atleast one husky there that rikku makes friends with |

| You can always join the FB group and use it to meet up with people close to you, not the "official" meet-ups. There's a lot of members on there from all over the state, so you may find some closer to you who can do a small meet up on your schedule. I've done that once already. Well, tried to, but the weather rained us out so we have yet to reschedule. |

| When we went to that E.Lansing one, yeah, the people didn't seem extremely open to conversation, as Jesse had stated, we pretty much hung out because we knew each other from here, and Rikku and Okami must have picked up on that cause they were inseparable almost the entire time.
I honestly have not seen them even create another event since the one that we went to, it must be getting lost in my feed. It would be helpful if it was a little more organized and attuned to different sections of Michigan. Like have an ambassador for the Detroit area, one for the Grand Rapids area, one for the Albion area, one for Central Michigan (Lansing area), One for just below the bridge like Alpena, and one for the Uppers. Then everyone would have an equal opportunity to make it to a meet, and no one would feel left out or drive over an hour or just an hour at the most. And it would leave options open for other people to join more than just a single one if they were pretty set on making it to more than just their area... (I know I would if I had the proper time to plan)
Either which way where are you in Michigan? From here in Fenton it would take me 3 hours to get to the Ohio boarder. You are welcome to come over anytime or we can set something up to come over and have a play date, which ever is easier. |

I just did a Google Maps search for "From Fenton Mi To Woodhaven Mi" Said it is a 1 hour 9 minute Drive... that is about the same drive I make to Lansing almost 3-4 times a month lol. |

| For sure, whenever you are ready I am down to meet up. There is a ton of Halfway points that I see, I have a buddy who lives in Plymouth and a buddy who live in Novi, we go out that way often, looks like Farmington Hills is another halfway point. probably would make no longer than a 30-45 minute drive for either of us. Next step would be to find an off leash dog park that we like and then playtime~! |

| That's awesome Sara! Would be awesome to see ya too! We should come up with an estimation date to meet up then. If we are wanting to wait till it is warmer, then maybe we should wait till Mid Feb or March ish times? |

| I don't mind the cold in general, as long as it's none of this polar air crap that has returned this week! Weekends are usually best for me! |

| Personally I love the cold, I am one of those weirdos that don't wear a coat in the winter very often, I prefer the cold... one of the many reasons I wanted a husky.. I knew that we both would have one thing in common, SNOW!!! <3 lol |
