| Thanks Jen! She has just about enough of her blue buffalo left to start incorporating the Wellness Core so I'll check out the pet store today. I think it's time for a change in her food...at least for a few months. She seems to be sort of tired of it =\ |

My last husky, Tasha's weight stayed around 57 lbs. as long as she was running. Her running days ended when she got cancer at age 9. Until she died at 14, she just walked for exercise. Her weight then was between 67 and 70 lbs. I betcha he'll bulk up. Koda hovered around 45lbs until he was 2 and he finally leveled off at 60lb around 2.5. They can grow/fill out until they are 3 Bodhi is so cute! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

I don't think so, I think the larger dogs is almost entirely genetics. Your genetic makeup says you will be x size full grown, eating a good diet will help you reach your growth potential but not make you bigger. Eating a poor diet may stunt growth but the opposite does not hold true. And with regard to the breed standard, they are set with the dogs purpose in mind. There is a reason huskies are smaller and the size that they are, there is a reason for their structure, coat and appearance. Oversized dogs should not be the new standard, rather they should be removed from the breeding program as they do not fit the standard. Unfortunately that is often not the case...but I digress. | I just gotta share my Momma's pride - today at his appointment he tipped the scale at 47.2!! We got him at 42 pounds, our vet wants to see him closer to 50. He's been gaining slow and steady (1 pound per month we've had him). I'm just brimming with joy!! Yay!! |

| Oh whoops- forgot to update with mine. Koda is still 60lbs on the nose. Hailey was down to 43lbs on her last visit. I think that when we decreased her portions, it wasn't actually her food portion that she had gained weight from (she was up to 50 lbs at one point) but added weight from being spayed. So when she decreased food, she was losing. We eventually put it back up, but I don't think it was enough (especially with the added exercise at the new house). So... Hailey is up to about a full cup 2x a day and Koda has gone up to a little over a full cup 2x a day (since he was acting hungry too with the added exercise). Still healthy, but trying to maintain Hailey a little better (of course right? The woman has the weight issues ) _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Yay Mya! Man...just think how long I'll be working on Storm's weight loss... I've started him on Wellness Core RF GF also. Once I get him fully on WC for a couple of weeks, I'll see how he does on raw chicken. He LOVES bones, so maybe he might just take to it right away. Just hope his tummy does OK with raw. THK and raw chicken leaned out Ginger really nice, I think... _________________ |
