| Hey all, back from several years of working overseas. Tell me what you think of this food. I am not putting up the name because it isn't likely anyone has heard of it and I want to avoid someone's opinion being influenced by name recognition.

| I don't like to base my opinion of a food purely on ingredients because it's only a part of the whole picture. There are plenty of foods with impressive ingredient lists that I wouldn't recommend or feed for other reasons such as company practices, ingredient sourcing, manufacturing process and track record.
With that "disclaimer" out of the way, based on ingredients alone it looks to be a pretty decent food if you don't have any reason to avoid potato since this contains plenty of it.
I couldn't say I'd recommend or consider feeding it as, again, I base my thoughts on more than just an ingredient list. _________________ |

| Fair enough, this company is ISO Certified 9001:2008 and subject to the strict European Rules on ingredient quality. The ISO rating means it has safety and production standards on par with the human food industry. It also requires the company to visit and audit all suppliers. This company uses full vacuum infusion.
As for potato, how would you know unless you had the weights of the ingredients? At 23% calories from carbs, would suggest potato is actually very limited. 37% protein and 18% doesn't leave much room. People often assume wrong about how much of certain ingredients are in the food.
The 42/22 version of this food has the identical sequence of ingredients. That food has 15% carbohydrate. So would you say the same thing, that there was a lot of potato?

Yes I would say both foods have plenty of potato which isn't a terrible thing, but some dogs have conditions which require staying away from potato. The ingredients are always listed in order of weight, so right there you can tell by how close potato is listed to the beginning of the list that it makes up a good portion of the food. _________________ |

No I am sorry you are wrong. The only way you can tell how much starch, whether it is potato or rice or whatever, is in the food without having the recipe and the weights is to work backwards using the protein and fat. Think about what you said above. You are bright I am sure you can figure out why the list of ingredients doesn't tell you what you think it does. The sequence is relative, that is a hint. Some companies will use potato, sweet potato, lentils, peas and chickpeas in one food so the amounts of each are smaller and fall lower on the list. |

| It's actually a foreign food and only available across seas, but it is a nice alternative for us to suggest to the people who join that aren't Americans. |

| I'm not going to waste my vacation arguing with someone who apparently knows so much about food that there doesn't seem to be a reason for starting this thread in the first place. When there is something worth replying to, I will gladly respond. _________________ |

| Thanks for posting the link Megan, I noticed dl methionine added to the food via the link which I would question the need for. One of the reasons I like a whole picture of the food/company rather than just an ingredient list. _________________ |
