Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

We are bringing home a new pup next week- at 8 weeks. I have learned so much from reading the discussions here. Have a question- Thinking about BBW- Salmon ot TOTW. If we go with BBW- is it ok to give regular adult vs the puppy formula?

My vet suggested just giving adult food his worry was that if they put weight on to quickly with puppy food they can have joint issues. He said that big dogs do just fine on adult food.

We've fed harry adult food from the day we brought him home. The puppy food the breeder sent home didn't seem to be agreeing with his stomach. He's been on a rotation of blue wilderness and natural balance. Just make sure you're giving them enough food and adult food will be fine. The servings on the bag per weight are for full grown animals so you'll need to bump up the serving size for a growing puppy. Our new puppy will be on the same food when he gets home in 2 weeks.

See I had to change TO puppy food for Keyto... Adult just didn't have enough protein for her.
So its all good at the moment, as Digger is a Pup- Nutrition and Feeding for Dogs can be a very complex subject...
Digger Is heavy for his age at the moment, But He is not fat... It is all Bone growth and muscle, which is what we really should be wanting and getting from puppy food. Unfortunately quite a few puppy foods appear to just add Fat to pups, rather then an improvement in growth.

Aslong as the food your feeding is 25-27% Protein, Pup should be fine.

TOTW is an All Life Stages formula anyway (they do have another puppy formula also with added extra ingredients but I'd say it's more their marketing tactics). Premium quality ALS food with be just fine. This is what I am feeding my 4 month old. TOTW High Prairie Smile He is doing really well Smile
