So while hiking with dogs I have realized even thought they seem like they will never stop they do slow some in spots or seem like they need something extra. When we get to the summit they always chow down then food I have for them. I started wondering if they needed something more, I mean here I am with my protein bars and extra energy snacks and Sierra and Jack have their normal food (while still good) I feel they need something else. I was reading my canine Colorado book and in the back they list vendors for active dogs and they had a company in CO that made Power bones for active dogs. I think I might look into getting some for our hiking adventures. Have any of you used such a thing or do you have other trick for giving your husky an "add" boost during long actives like all day hikes? Here is the company in Colorado that makes the bones i was looking at. http://www.zukes.com/woof/power-bones.html _________________

Mine get the raw chicken treatment the day before anything grueling. Sometimes a super rich organ and rice combo in addition to the normal food. I go all cheap.

LOL- so I love Zuke's... and I clicked on your link Jenn... turns out I bought those the other day by accident! I totally thought they were new Zuke's treats instead of the regular little ones... like the Wellness Core jerky-type treats. I think that was the day I was honestly somewhere else (seriously, like almost caused an accident on the way to the store) cause I normally read packages much better. Anyway- I can say that they probably DO have an effect cause Koda hasn't been eating as consistently and I bet you that's why! He's been getting protein treats LOL. They're great though. Look/smell like jerky and the dogs love them! I'm such a doufus sometimes! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand.
