hello had a few questions regarding my growing husky pup... Niko is about 14 weeks now. we feed him a petsmart brand dog food called Authority: Chicken and rice, also says its grain free. since we had him at 8 weeks, we feed him 2 times a day. about 1- 1 1/2 cups per feeding. instructions say to feed him 2 cups but since ive heard huskies arent big eaters, we just feed him the 1 1/2. niko is about 14 weeks and weighs 35-40 lbs. (btw is that overweight for his age??)...since hes over 3 months old, the bag of dog food says to now feed him 4 1/2 cups per feeding...2 times a day. to me that seems like a LOT of food to be feeding him a day...especially after hearingthey really dont each much. i also shoud mention that the dog food is large breed ( heard mix reviews on rather to feed him large breed or regular)...and also the brand rated 3 stars on the dog food advisory and there was also a 4 star rating on the same breed just different flavor so should i still feed him the 1-2 cups per feeding or go with what the bag says and up it to 4 cups? should i get him off the large breed? or should i switch brands of food since its only a 3 star? a few people say that huskies SHOULD eat food n the 4 or 5 star rating. Thanks for all the help! Don

I wouldn't be feeding Authority and I would personally be looking at something rated in the 4 or 5 star range. He should only need to be fed 3 cups a day total of a high quality food. 4.5 seems about right for a lower rated food, but I always feed based on my dog's needs. I monitor their weight and adjust their portion size if they need it. If the food is chicken and rice, it's not really a grain-free food. If you're looking for true grain-free, you'll want something without rice, barley, oats, etc. But that is up to you _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand.

This is a living thread that is constantly updated: https://www.itsahuskything.com/t174-what-are-you-feeding-your-huskyAnother place to check out is dogfoodadvisor.com or dogfoodanalysis.com. We generally recommend anything 4* and higher, preferably 5* or 6*. It's hard to recommend something in particular because each dog is different and reacts to different foods, well, differently Nutrition is mostly trial and error. Whatever works for your and your dog is what is best. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand.
