| I just got a new Husky puppy about a week ago he's only 7 weeks old. I read and researched everything about the breed before I got him so I knew what I was in for. But it seems that he likes everyone in my household more than me. I've tried showing him I'm the Alpha & it just seems to make his behavior worse? &He's really not that bad at all. It just seems like he never wants anything to do with me. I know they are independent breed but I atleast figured he'd like me a little bit. I spend all of my time with him except when I work (at the most 4 hours a day). I feed him, I play with him (when he allows me too), I'm training him/crate training him. I spend the most time with him. My other family members only spend a few minutes with him everyday and he just seems to enjoy that more. When he does something wrong I just say no in a stern voice, I dont physically abuse him. He also never listens to me, when I walk by him he trys to run away from me. & When other people in my family get home he seems so excited to see them. When I get home he's just like "oh, its just you." Is it something I'm doing or is it just the Husky in him? It honestly hurts my feelings. Will he grow out of it or will he keep acting this way? Did your puppy act like that when you brought him home? I really want him to love me? Am I doing something wrong?

| I wouldn't worry. He's very young and only been with you a short time. Staying consistent with him and with the training will help you develop a stronger bond over time....a stronger bond than he will have with anyone else. He may seem happier with other people, but will have more love and respect for you in the long run. When I got my guy he was estimated to be somewhere between 6-9 months. I thought he hated me for the longest time. After ALOT of work together, he has a stronger bond with me than anyone. It took at least 6 months for that to happen with us. Sometimes he acts like he "loves"other people more, but I know that I am the one he is attached to and has the strongest bond with. He is not a cuddly dog and seems aloof often, but I know how dependent he really is on me Also think about it like the child who stays at home with mom all day, yet is always extremely happy when dad comes home and acts like mom is chopped liver, lol. Moms always do all of the work, but get the least credit. |

| I would also agree with Dee. I know my boy will get super excited over people he doesn't see as much as me but I don't worry, I know in the end he is my bud. He will even do this thing where when we let him out of his kennel when we get home he will run straight for whichever one of us didn't let him out of his cage. |

| I completely agree with Dee! When we first brought Hayden home I swear I felt the same way! Over time with consistent training, bonding, and spending lots of quality time together we are best bud's! He is probably still figuring out the packing order and will soon respect you. It's only been a short time and can possibly take a few weeks, so don't get frustrated, he will turn around |

| These huskies are not labs. I have never had one that goes around with the "I love you, I love you, I adore you" attitude. Many people who share their lives with huskies will describe their nonchalant attitude as being very "cat-like". I agree with that assessment.
That said, I believe they love you in their own way, but they will not "stoop so low" as to show you too much of their feelings. We never see Sabaka show very much excitement when either of us return home. |

| I'm with Dee too! Don't take it personal. I do EVERYTHING for my three. I mean EVERYTHING yet when hubby and I get home from work (we come together) it's all about daddy. It's like I'm not even there But I know they love and depend on me. They come ask me for stuff and not him, they switch rooms when I do, and sleep next to me. It takes time to build that bond. Mya could care less about us when we brought her home at 8 weeks! |

By golly I think you just nailed it on how Adobo operates. Just wish there was a better definition instead of cat. But thats it. She is all waggy tail when we come home from work but after she has her welcome home give me a treat treat she heads to the bedroom. When she thinks we might have earned some of her attention she'll come out let us pet her then either drop to the floor or go back to her bed. Biko on the other hand is glued to my leg from the time I arrive until I leave the next morning for work.

| Yuki is the same way. I live alone for five days a week and my mom is only home on the weekends. I do everything with the pups - feed them, bathe them, walk them, take them to the dog park, etc. She will play with me a bit and sometimes snuggle with me, but ultimately when my mom gets home she's always 'wooing' at my mom and wagging her whole butt. At first I thought Yuki liked my mom more but then I thought of it like Dee.. "Also think about it like the child who stays at home with mom all day, yet is always extremely happy when dad comes home and acts like mom is chopped liver". Yuki is with me all the time so I expect she's just happy for more company. Ultimately, I know she loves me and that our bond is something my mom and her don't have ^-^ |

| We call Hailey the anti-husky. She acts like a lab more than a husky. For real... that dog is GLUED to us 24/7. Koda on the other hand is Mr. Cat. He does his own thing and only graces me with his presence when he wants something. However... each of our dogs bonded to one of us. Hailey would follow John to the ends of the earth without food and water. Being near him would be enough for her. Koda, on the other hand, is my heart-dog. He listens to me, comes to me when he needs something, and once in a while (like right now) will just want to be near me... and he'll come sleep by my feet. Every dog is different, but as has been said, it takes time to build that bond and that trust. Don't be offended by it or let it hurt your feelings. The more you force it, the more disappointed you'll be. Just keep doing what you are doing and someday you'll turn around and realize that he's been your dog and no one else's all along _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Maya acted like she didn't like me for the first two years we had her. She would listen to me unless we were at the dog park or she had free roam in the backyard. It's fenced but we kept her on a cable because she would NOT come inside. She would cuddle with my mom and my mom would rub it in my face about how Maya loved her more. But then we got Sophie and Sophie is crazy lovable, she follows me everywhere and gives me hugs. So maya had competition, she started wanting more attention and would shove Sophie out of the way. Now maya follows me everywhere and her recall is better, she'll still cuddle with my mom or sister but if I leave the room she follows me. So I now have 3 huskies that are glued to me. If I sit on the couch maya and Sophie sit on it and Kay sits on my feet. They'll greet people who come in but after they're done they come right back to me. |

| My husky is the opposite, I wish he had a little of your husky atitude. Ghost is always around us. He follows me everywhere, I mean eve-ry-where! I can't even go to the restroom peacefully. If I don't close the door completly (when it makes the "click"), he just enters and sits looking at me, or just lays there. It's a little akward when he does that and you have people in your house, I'll start saying "ghost close the door!" (obviously he doesn't do such thing, just stares at me with a silly look). If the door is closed and he can't enter, he scratches the door and lays there with his nose glued to the door till you open. I feel like I have a stalker, because sometimes I don't even notice him and when I turn around he's right there. Be careful with what you wish, or you'll end up with a canine stalker too |

| Pippa is so weird about this. If no one's around she'll follow me around and always want to know what I'm up to, but if I'm home for the weekend and my brother's around, she won't pay me any attention.
My brother never feeds her, rarely takes her out, but he'll roll around on the floor with her and she LOVES him for it.
She loves my dad for absolutely no reason, but I'm pretty glad for that because he wasn't crazy about my getting a dog in the first place.

| I think it depends on a lot of things.
You said you try to show him you're Alpha? How? Not pinning him down, I hope. I feel like alpha status just happens and is not something that's forced upon a puppy that young. My puppy seems to only listen to me and/or is always in a calm, attentive state. The second I leave for work, etc, he goes crazy and my fiancee has a hard time keeping him in control.
Also, your puppy may be associating your family members as fun time, depending on how they greet your husky. My roommate loves to excite my puppy every single time she enters and sees him. It's very irritating because it brings out his separation anxiety and makes entering/leaving the room such a big deal. My fiancee and I, on the other hand, always ask him to do something before he gets affection.
But anyways, Huskies are weird. They like to go around town, if you know what I mean. I mean, look at the way they sleep, revealing all their private parts. |

| He's still so young and is still settling in to his new environment. Give it time.
Fre will want to be where I am when it suits her, she follows me from room to room when she can be bothered. She'll lay in the middle of the kitchen floor and make me step over her when she's in one of her clingy moods, but as soon as it's over she goes to my son's be and stays there. It can be hours before I see her.
When I get home from being out for a few hours she'll wag her tail, look at me wanting affection and love and as soon as the greetings are over she'll dissapear.
I know she loves me, she wakes me up from my nightmares with a kiss on the face, she snuiggles wth me on hte floor while we're watching a movie together (If it suits her), she doesnt pee on my floor any more - which I take as a sign of love lol. |

| 7 weeks is really too young to get your puppy, IMHO, but no matter. My male golden retriever acted just like that when he came home. Totally aloof, and it really bothered me! He is still always more eager to meet everyone else. He's just more independent then most...unusual for a golden. But, he will do anything I ask of him (except retrieve, unless HE wants to!), and I can tell he has bonded with me and he does have the most adorable personality. He is very outgoing and friendly. Would I prefer he be all over me like my other goldens? Sure, but then he wouldn't be my Hankie-Boy!
Totally agree with Dee here~Hang in there...he is still very young and learning what's up at your house. It will come in time.....don't take it personally at all!!! |

Shiva does this too but in milder way, she nudges the door open, looks at me, looks around, and depending the size of bathroom Im in (I have 5 bathrooms) she'll either leave or sit there till I finish. She wont scratch the door or be glued to it though. If its closed, she walks away. |

| Thank you all for your replys! Sebastian & I are doing much better now. I just think it was him adjusting to the new home. I am now his favorite. He doesnt exactly follow me everywhere but he does listen to me and he does like being around me. I am truly happy that I chose a husky. Its hard to understand when people say its a "unique breed" until you own one. He has a one of a kind big personality and its taken time for me to understand it and now that I do, it makes me love him even more. Thanks so much again!
Best Wishes & Happy Holidays (: |

| We have a Little guy called archer and jax the Chocolate Lab I surprised my wife with archer one day when we just moved in together, he's 14 weeks old and he's the smartest puppy i've ever seen, I work a lot with him for obedience and discipline, (even though he really likes to poop on the stairs) but. Hes very calm at times. and doesnt show a lot of affection, exept when a stranger comes over and he puts his ears back and jumps on them (we dont allow that though) and plays, and wants to be all cuddly, But when its just me and my wife he doest do that, Today for the first time we saw him put his ears back when he was with a stranger, And he has never done that with us. Im sure Its because hes a puppy still. |
