This past weekend we went up north with my family because my dad did the M-22 Challenge Triathlon. It was Me, Anthony, Bode, my Mom, Dad, their dog Riley, and my Aunt. We stayed at a dog friendly resort and got to do a lot of fun stuff. The M-22 Challenge is a big race in Michigan and is cool because instead of swimming, you do a paddle sport (most people kayak but there were a few SUP'ers).
We drove up Friday to Glen Arbor, where we were staying and explored a little bit. This part of Michigan is just gorgeous. Saturday morning we watched the race and then that afternoon we went into Leland where there was a food and wine festival going on. Sunday we went for a paddle on the lake and then headed home.
Bode did so good the whole time. The weather was perfect. Mid 60s to low 70s and everywhere is pretty dog friendly, so he got to go most places with us. He got so much attention and did really well with all the kids grabbing at him (he hasn't been around kids all that much). We did try to take him out in the canoe for the first time, and while it wasn't a disaster, it definitely wasn't a success. He was moving around and shifting a lot, so we went back in because we didn't want to tip.
Well, here are some pictures of our trip, including my dad in the race. He finished in the top third overall (out of 1000) and right in the middle of his age group. Anthony is training to be able to do it next year.
