| Hayden is almost 9 month's old now & Nicky 3 months (geez time flies!) and before when I took them to the dog park for a couple hours they would crash for the entire night as soon as we got home! It was like this until about two weeks ago and all of a sudden I can walk them, play during the day, over 2 hours at the dog park and they still aren't tired! They'll fall asleep on the car ride home, which is only like 15 minutes and by the time we're at the house they get some sort of a second wind and are completely insane again! Is this normal for pups around their age? They were never like this before, which is why it's so strange to me.
It's even getting kind of scary. Last night we went to the park for over two hours and Hayden was crashed out in the park on his side, so I thought he was good and tired. HA! He fooled me! We got home (my yard if fully fenced in, but our neighbors accidentally took down a small part of the fence in the back) and Hayden slipped out of my hands. I didn't think much of it, because he always follows me in the house, especially when he's sleepy. Not this time! He runs straight to the back of the yard where the small part of fence is missing and goes straight to the neighbors yard that isn't fenced in. I take off running after him, literally running out of my flip flops, and he makes a run for the highway. I was totally freaked and took me about 15 minute to catch him, but I managed to grab his tail and hook him on the leash. Needless to say the fence is now fixed! It scared me to death I was in tears screaming for him. He's never done that before! Surprised me so bad, especially after he was so tired at the park!
Our routine did get thrown off a bit the last two weeks, because it's been so darn hot outside! They only went outside to potty and that's it! It's finally cooled off enough to go back into our normal routine and they are acting like completely different dog's. I hope they get back into the swing of thing's, but in the mean time I'm going nut's! I even signed them both up for doggy daycare hoping that will burn off some energy (keeping my fingers crossed).
Does all this extra energy sound normal? |

| I'm surprised they weren't driving you nuts before now. My 2 start to drive me nuts after 2 days if they haven't been able to go to the dog park like normal. we usually go everyday if we can. |

| They've always been great up until the last two weeks....very strange!
We usually go to the dog park everyday as well, but with this weather it's been way too hot.
I'm hoping doggy daycare will do the trick or I'm gonna have to commit myself to the crazy house lol. |

| I buy gallon bags of frozen raw bones. They will spend hours chewing and it seems to tire them out a bit. |

Fortunately for me it keeps me sane XD. I might adopt another one at this rate lol. From what I have gathered about Huskies they are like the energizer bunny....they keep going and going and going. I'll see you in the crazy house soon |

| Dalton has been going insane as well, and he's 10 months. We LOVE daycare, he's in there twice a week, it's helped a ton with the adolescence craziness. The other days we have to take him to the park for a few hours in the afternoon, and walk him once it cools off outside. (about 9:30-10pm) The last day or so I have been bringing a spray bottle of cool water with me to the dog park, I'll spray his belly and chest when we get there, and hit him up again once he's dried off. Generally he doesn't like water much, but it seems to help him stay a bit cooler. |

| Tika's switch flipped at 1 year..... almost on the dot. Her energy level shot through the roof. I've posted our daily routine in other threads so I won't again, but Kelly and I both noticed the change right away. Like you 3 hours at the dog park used to put Tika out for a day and a half.... I'm not joking. Now she is up running around as soon as we get home. Sounds perfectly normal to me ~Chris~ _________________ Is this about the cake problem? | At least I'm not the only one going nut's here. They were a lot better today, but I'm still gonna take tire them out at the dog park in a little bit. Maybe I'll actually have a peaceful evening without them being holy terrors |

HA! yeah right on the peaceful evening. when i visit Buffalo, Khuno and his half sister Koda get to play. They literally run, wrestle, and chase each other, for about 3 hours. he he exhausted in the 5 minute car ride back home. As soon as he gets home, he looks at my mom and immediately goes into a puppy run and jumps around from carpet to carpet. He does know that when it comes to bed time its time to settle down and sleep. But until then he's a terror. |

| Hah, if he is anything like my dog, you will have a few years to deal with that! I was actually just going to ask opinions on when my boy might lose his tenacious puppyhood! Since I got him from a shelter there was only a guess at his age, which they said 2yrs. He was definitely full grown in size, but he has never been short of energy. Actually, the more exercise and play he gets, the more he wants! Just today after work, we went on a hike for about an hour with another dog where they got to run full speed thru the woods, swim in the river and chase deer. Then we stopped by a friends and he played with their little lab puppy for about a half hour of non-stop chase, wrestle and more swim. He is now tossing his tug ball around furiously and barking and howling at me to play with him! I guess if they could wear out, they wouldn't make very good sled dogs |

| Steve- you're not too far away, we should totally meet up one day and like them all burn off the energy (if that's even possible for them to do lol) Massak- That is very true! I don't think a lazy Husky would be ideal for pulling sleds |
