Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. | Meeka has got so much calmer now that shes working to 6 months the only problem I really have with her is when we go on walks . Its funny in a way but not really and its usually at the start of and the end of the walk she trys to play with the leash and pull on it and chew it and it drives me nuts. I real usually pick her up when she does it and hold her for a few seconds to a minute then put her down and shell walk fine for awhile. It also happens in the same spots on out walks like something in that area says attack the leash.Has anyone else ever had a problem like this? |

| My greyhound Mia does this. I can't tell you how many leashes I've gone through. We have to use the chain leash on her, and walk her separate from the other two because she will try to "walk" them with their leashes. I think it has something to do with the leash feeling good on her gums, because she will do it even when the leash is hung up at home...it was super annoying because I was buying leashes every other day it seemed. |

| One of the best pieces of training advice I've ever read is, "Don't tell the dog what NOT to do, tell the dog what you want it to do instead." So in other words, don't tell her not to chew the leash, give her something else to do instead. Make her sit in those spots and reward with a treat. Pretty soon, instead of reacting to that spot by grabbing her leash, she will react by sitting and looking to you for her treat. My male pup was getting super excited and whining whenever we passed a house with a barking dog. Now he barely notices them, or if he does get upset, he'll come get his treat and then we move on. |
