| Now I'm worried about Asia. She has this pretty big lump on her tummy right next to the incision from the spay. She didn't have that a few days ago Calling the vet tomorrow to take her in and get it checked out. I hope it's nothing serious. She's acting completely normal and it doesn't seem to hurt her, but I'm totally freaked out about it

| I'm trying to think who also had that... I want to say Cheyenne but it may have been Cheyenne and Mishka both. As long as it doesn't have a pus head I think it's OK. I'd get it checked out too but I don't think it's anything to panic over _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | Nope, no puss head. It's pretty big though. Did it just go away on the girls? |

| Yeah it did, it was on the end of the incision. It was just a blood collection/swelling of some sort. They can get it from moving too much and aggravating the incision. Which my dogs did plenty of because there is no such thing as "keeping them calm" after a neuter. lol _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | Took Asia to her first vet first today! She did great. Was being so timid and shy. I was like "ummm, this is all an act" I love my vet. He was laying on the floor with for a while letting her lick him to death and trying to teach her "paw" (she's not picking that up). He was asking me all sorts of questions about how they're all getting along and wanted to know the entire story of how we got her. He's awesome. All of the vet techs were in love too! You can't blame them. She's just so cute! He said the lump by the incision is muscle and totally normal. Should go away in a few weeks. Relief! He confirmed that she should be 6 months old just like AC said. He said he thought she was going to be smaller than Mya and Kody. She weighed in at 24lbs. Paperwork from AC said she weighed 30lbs. So either they were wrong or she's lost 6lbs in a week! I'm sure that we're feeding her much better food than she was getting. Plus all of the rough housing with Kody and her mini walks I'm sure made her drop a few, but 6?! That can't be. She's had mushy poop for about a week now. It comes and goes. Kody has had it too. He did a fecal and it's all good. Thinking it's the food or the stupid berries they're eating from the tree outside. I try to stop them, but I can't stop them all of the time. Now, the bad news. She has manage and the treatment really SUCKS Every 10 days (for at least 4 treatments) we have to shower her with this special shampoo, dilute this treatment called Mitaban into 2 gallons of warm water, sponge the entire 2 gallons on her, then take her outside to dry in the sun. We have to wear gloves and not let the treatment touch us b/c it's absorbed through the skin. Fine, that's a total process, but what bothered me is that he said she would be really down for a few days following the treatment b/c it's pretty toxic. I asked if there was another way to cure it or maybe something oral to give her that wouldn't knock her out, but he said the oral pill is way more toxic and he wouldn't want to prescribe that. Has anybody had to treat manage before? |

| My Dakota had mange when he was rescued, they had to get it cleared up before he was adopted. I'll check with his former foster mom and see what treatment their vet used. I'll let you know what they say. Hope Asia's mange isn't as bad as Kota's was. |

| I'm trying to find the stupid article on the internet that I found when this whole thing with Mickey came up... But it's basically a wash that you apply daily (PanOxyl- you can get it at Publix where all the face stuff is) and then a warm rinse with tea tree oil diluted in warm water. Where is the mange? Mickeys always first flares up on his feet... _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | Yeah, i'll bring the wash and tea tree oil to show you. Paws are easy to fix up. Don't do the baths, Mel. It's not worth it and it's way too harsh. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! I know this is off topic, but... I just wanna say how thankful I am that everyone here is willing to try alternative therapies. I didn't realize how truly horrible all of this medication was until I started to doing research. |

| We used tea tree oil, and a VERY diluted (1 part mitaban, 10 parts water) on my standard poodle when I was younger who got mange at a shelter. I, too, would be very hesitant to use the chemicals bc they are so toxic.
Poor Asia! |

I looked when I got home and it's on her leg. She's so short that it seemed like her paw..lol. Vet said that mange is all over their body and that the spots that loose hair is where there are more of the mites. Said the dip would rid her of it totally after a few sessions. Do you apply the tea tree oil all over the body or just in the spot? |
