Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| Jasmine turned 4 this past April. I'm a bit concerned about hip displasia. What would some of the signs be at this age if she is going to have problems in the future? I don't really see any signs of pain when she walks, but she does LOVE to have her hips rubbed. Sometimes she even DEMANDS it! |

| The first thing you'll notice is she'd slightly favor one leg over the other or just how she runs will be a bit "off" or not properly balanced over both her back legs. Of course the only way to really tell is with x-rays...
When Mishka runs she seems to keep one of her back legs a bit more stiff and her gait is just not even compared to Cheyenne and Mickeys who have a very fluid gait. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | i was noticing things with Jack that Kristina mentioned and for $150 we had x-rays done to see. and while nothing screamed hip displasia his left hip was boarder good/worrisome. we started him on the Glucosamine we have been giving Sierra and will just keep an eye on it. we did it because of his right back leg and since nothing showed up we think it might have been a pulled muscle or something. _________________ |

| Way back when GSDs were my dog of choice one I had would have visible pain on getting up from lying down especially after a long walk. Finally had to put him on a baby aspirin a day to control it. |

| Dakota never showed signs until he turned 10. Really not until his seizures started. I was constantly told how people where shocked when they found out his real age. He had the mobility of a puppy despite having HD. I will say...looking back at some incidents he had over the years, I do believe it hurt him when he would run into something in rough play etc..but at the time I just assumed it was the rough play and not anything underlying since he would recover so quickly. X-rays would be your best option for piece of mind. |
