What is the best way to introduce wearing booties to your dog. I can get Stormy to walk with one on, but if I put them all on at once he just shakes them off.

Get them on good, let them dance around till they realize they are not coming off and start walking around with them on! Then do it a few times a week till they don't care, take them for walks as well after they are done dancing so they realize the booties will not kill them

I have to admit...the dancing is pretty funny to watch. Sollie was trying to help her brother out.

LOL So I tried what you suggested. He went and sat in a corner after dancing. I gave him a biscuit so he wouldn't think he was being punished. Sollie just went over and dragged him out of the corner and forced him to walk around. Just wait till she is grown and I buy hers.

what booties do you have for him? I have the RW boots and it took Indy a few days to get used to them, but I just let him walk around in the house first then took him for a short hike and run. Now he gets excited to wear them and doesn't try to shake them off. He did do the little dance at first and it was hilarious!

At least Stormy sat down, Kale won't sit. He stood over his bed till he was swaying and I had to take them off so he could sleep!

That's a great video, Brooke! I have one similar of Indy, but it's him just dancing around lol.

My first thought was "Introducing booties to your dog.....is really funny!" lol. Mine just danced around, high stepping like a horse! But we decided it was too much hassle to try and save our wood floors and gave up!

I bought mine to protect Indy's feet after he tore a toenail.
His first time wearing the boots with only two on!

We got a set of the RW boots as a wedding gift, and just tried them on. It was pretty funny! I think ours might be too big though, and we don't have an REI anywhere near us. I'll either try to exchange them directly or send them to my sister and have her do it. Video of Ghost will be uploaded tonight, btw, it was too good an opportunity to pass up

well when you have to cross asphalt or cement or gravel while on a run, or if you're hiking rocky trails or heavily wooded paths you should take into consideration what your dog is walking on. The trails Indy and I walk have a lot of over growth and fallen trees and thorn bushes; our trails have gravel and a we sometimes have to cross unwanted terrain. I bought them because of those things and also because on one of our last runs before the purchase, Indy tore a toe nail.

Ouch! That makes sense. I cant walk on alot of that stuff so we hike across the beaches. She loooooves it bc its digging haven. She has almost stepped on a jelly fish tho, so maybe it would be something to look into

I think I should change the topic to Intro.......post your vids. They are great. Thank you for the input since it seemed to work. I haven't tried today yet, but if I do I'll try and get a video of it.
I got them not only for the material they walk on, but if for any reason they have to cross hot asphalt. We had a beagle that burn his little paws once because the asphalt was really hot.
