| The number of cases of dogs getting sick and dying from eating chicken jerky treats imported from China are on the rise right now, so be careful.

| Right now or ever! This has been going on for years!
Stay away from the Canyon Creek Ranch and even the fancy Dogswell ones - all made in china! I thought they would be ok since they're just one ingredient, but apparently not! I check to make sure that all my treats have Made in USA on them- don't trust just an american flag or "distributed by" an american company. |

| That really irks me about the CCR treats, because they look like they should be really high quality. We're switching our girls over to primarily Blue Buffalo because of that China thing. I even, at one point, had a large bag of the CCR apple/chicken jerky treats. I hope I didn't expose Ghost to the nasty stuff... _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Ya, the Dogswell one are totally modern and design-y - leading you to think they're locally made. And the Canyon Creek Ranch ones lead you to believe they're made in texas with the design on the front. The ones from Costco are also from China - should have know by the low price!
Petsmart as some good treats from Carolina Prime - made in the USA! Salmon rolls and dried sweet potato. The Salmon one have other ingredients but we just use them as high value treats. |

| I'll have to check out the Carolina Prime ones the next time I'm in PetSmart. Thanks for the suggestion!
And you're totally right with the design of CCR...Totally screams Texas all over it. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | I'm at Aaron's parents for the weekend, and as soon as we got to their house last night, what does his mom pull out for the dogs? CHICKEN JERKY!!!!!!! I got all upset then, but she assured me they were made in South Carolina so I let it go because I really didn't feel like starting a fight right then. I finally got a chance to look at the bag, and they're not made in South Carolina, they're freaking made in China. It's written in huge letters across the bottom of the bag. She saw the "manufactured for" thing and thought that's where they were made. This is absolutely going to start world war 3 when they get home, but I'm going to have to ask her to not feed my dogs treats that are made in China. They have a 10 year old Jack Russell that pretty much only eats treats, so who knows what kind of issues Annie is developing. Ugh, I'm so horrified right now. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Isis had one of these treats before going into her crate for a nap this afternoon. This evening her eye is swollen and won't dilate. Any chance these are connected? |

| Who knows. But after I *very* politely asked Aaron's mom to not feed those to my dog, she even commented that Annie had been having tummy problems and feeling listless after eating those treats. I really hope Isis's eye is ok and that it's not a big deal. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Wow I've been ghost for TOO long, but thought I'd check the forums for an attempt to stay current. Interestingly enough, I purchased a bigger bag of the Canyon Creek chicken and duck jerkey for Koda a few months back. He LOVED them. Devoured those things as soon as they could be detached from my fingertips, then about 2 weeks later after daily feedings I wake up to a horrid smell. I walk to his crate with my roomies and lo and behold he evacuated his runny bowels everywhere inside his cage and proceeded to lie in it smh. (Had to hand clean everything-even him; no water hose nearby) Later on that day, my roomie called me to inform me that he pressed the eject button on the buttox yet again-this time all over the crate again and on the walls.
Long story short, I immediately switched him off those treats. |

| Best thing people can do is look for where treats and food stuff is made, if it says China just avoid it at all cost. Chinese manufacturing is all about profit everything else can be damned. |

| Yeah I just avoid anything/everything foodwise from China. You need to be careful with supplements, a lot are made in China. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

| So we went to costco today and I was looking at all the treats and where they were made and most were from china but what I did find was some new treats they have, made in the usa and no no small print saying china. One was this salmon nugget and I got them, S&J like them. I forget what the others were but they were made in CO! Might get them next time. Also they had a new flavor of nature doman, turkey! Might get that next time..
Oh and at walmart in the clearance center were all those chicken jerky treats from wagon tails, I think that's the one causing the issues....
My eyes are now more open to checking made from, I would just check what its made with. _________________ |

Can you take a picture of the ingredient list and share it with us next time you go to Costco? I haven't tried the Nature's Domain fish formula from Costco because my sibe cannot tolerate fish so I've had my fingers crossed that they'd come out with a different protein source without fish or beef and still be grain free. Hopefully our Costco gets the turkey formula soon. I'm not holding my breath since we didn't get the fish based Nature's Domain over here until I think a year or a year and a half AFTER you guys got them in CO. That'll be one great thing about moving back to WA, we'll be the first to get everything at Costco! Have you seen the new Kirkland wet food cans? $17.99 for a 24 pack of canned food, it's not labeled as grain free but I skimmed the ingredients and didn't notice any grain so I picked up a package in Spartanburg, SC since I haven't seen it here in Charleston. And yes, the Costco chicken jerky (Kingdom Pets) is from China. _________________ |

I think I got the same treats! They're very similar to the ones I found on NK9S but cheaper! I'll post a pic of it back and front....they're made in California. _________________ |

| Costco's on the east coast just suck! We don't have those over here as far as I've seen. I couldn't use them anyway since Dakota can't have fish but I at least want the option! The costco's in Orlando, FL and Spartanburg, SC (but not Charleston, lucky me) also have those grain free little biscuits. I didn't buy them but loved the pic of the sibe on the box. _________________ |

| yep those are it Claudia!!! did you see the other ones that are made in CO? i think the bag was $12 or something. if costco keeps this trend up i might not have to buy online. just want a good jerky for the dogs for hikes.... _________________ |

| I didn't see the other one made in CO - what are they? I don't do grain or wheat for Ginger or Storm, so I may just have overlooked it if it contained those. Also, I stay away from salt in jerky treats, so if there's any other ingredient other than fish in jerky treats, I won't buy them. So far, the only jerky treats that I've found that has only 1 ingredient listed is at NK9S... _________________ |
