Standard Measuring Cup? Empty
PostSubject: Standard Measuring Cup?   Standard Measuring Cup? EmptyFri Jan 06, 2012 4:49 pm

OK, i'm probably asking a question that is going to get everyone laughing at me, but... We don't really use measuring cups in the UK Smile Well, at least I don't and none i know does.

The TOTW just came through the door and i've been reading the packaging... It says I need to give Luka 3 and a half full standard cups a day for his weight - how much is that in grams? I have a cup thats left over from the purina pro plan - with markings up to 250g but then isn't every kibble going to take up a different amount of room to cover a particular weight due to each pieces density?

Im sure its a really simple answer!

ok i just did a fast google search and i think the cup you have marked up to 250gs either means it is one cup or it could be two.... regardless of the size/weight of the food most of us just use a standard cup for all the dry food regardless of the weight.

If you're doing a dry measure:
1/2 cup = 113.4 grams

Thanks guys, - I won't be switching him over for another week so I have time to decide how much i'll be giving him, so 4 cups a day would be close to 1000g?? Thats a lot of food considering he only gets about 400g daily at the moment!

Also, seeing as this isn't specifically puppy food, it contains less Vitamin E, no source of DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) and only 25% protein compared to the 30% he was getting before... is it worth supplementing or can i be confident that he will do well just on the kibble?

The feeding guide on the bag is usually on the high side f what should be fed. I'd start at the lower amount and adjust from there.

Ghost is on 3 cups a day of the regular TOTW (they didn't have the puppy formula at the local store). We had tried to back off that, but her hip bones got kind of prominent so we upped it back to 3.

Unfortunately the new puppy formula isn't available here in the UK, too much and he gets runny stools, too little and obviously its not good to deprive a growing puppy of nutrition!
