| Welcome! Khaleesi... Song of Ice and Fire fan? My Ghost is named after Jon's direwolf and there are a handful of others here with character names. I love Khaleesi's mask too _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. Have you read the books or just watched the series on HBO? The books are definitely high up on my list of best books ever, and they did a phenomenal job with the series. Can't wait for the next season! Our Ghost is a girl too. I toyed around with Nymeria when we decided on a girl, but Aaron (fiance) didn't care for it as much and I'd always been stuck on the name Ghost. I may have to stick with the naming conventions for our next Husky (when I finally strong arm Aaron into letting me get one) _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. I'm really wanting to get a boy with Khaleesi to breed with and of course name him Khal. |

| I'll have some deciding to do on names if we get another female, maybe I'll finally win out on Nymeria, and if we get a male it will probably be Grey Wind or Summer _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Welcome to the forum! I am a fan of the name Khaleesi as well. My husband has read the whole series, but I basically read for a living, so pleasure reading isn't super high on my list of things to do in my spare time! But I LOVE the series and really do wish I could read the books!
She is gorgeous! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Hi, I'm Andrew and I'm Khaleesi's other owner... can't really say owner though I only use it for lack of a better word, Khaleesi is being trained but I think somehow shes also training Heather and myself, I just wanted to join up, and say hello as well. There's no need for me to post anymore pictures because they're already here but I can tell you a little about Khaleesi. My uncle was hunting one day and found her Grandfather (father's side) as a pup, abandoned and alone in the woods, Lucky's whimpering ruined my uncles hunting trip so he searched for the pup, brought him home (I happened to be there staying the night). he was anointed with the name "Lucky" because my uncle joked that he was lucky he didn't get shot. The picture in H_Bomb90's post of lucky and myself was taken during Mid-tour leave from Afghanistan, lucky was about... 3 years old at that point if not older, Lucky is no longer with us, he disappeared without a trace, we believe he was stolen. Lucky was my favorite dog of all time. You can tell by the picture we were fond of one another. , I miss him to this day. Khaleesi's father Jack was bred from Lucky's loins by my Uncle, from Lucky's second litter, I have no pictures of Jack's mother unfortunately. Jack is also a great dog, very friendly and very smart. Full blooded Husky but unregistered. Khaleesi's Mother Somara Moon is a full blooded Husky with AKC papers and a champion bloodline, unfortunately due to some rules in show dog standards she wasn't available to be shown. (Her tail when excited curls and touches her back). Somara's grandfather is supposed to be a west-minster champion though I have no proof of that, Her mothers name was Tika Red Storm, she was a red haired husky very beautiful and -Very- Vocal. However back to Somara, she is beautiful and very well mannered and affectionate. I obtained her through a trade to give her better surroundings than the cage she was in, and to breed her with Jack so that I would have a piece of Lucky with me always. I truly enjoyed writing this though I have no Idea why, but this is the story behind my Khaleesi-pup. She's very smart and at her age I have already trained her to High-Five, Sit and Jump Up. She loves playing tug of war and she's already comprehending fetch very well. She's well tempered and loving, I love having her in my life and I know Heather does too! |

Welcome! i will say PLEASE think good and hard about bringing in a litter of puppies JUST so you can have a piece of Lucky with you. you got her to give her a better life, a better life would be having her spayed so that she does not end up with cancer or complications during carrying/delivering that could take her life. we know you loved lucky and he will always be in your heart and mind, you don't need a blood line to remind you of that. _________________ |

The littler already happened, Jenn. That's how Khaleesi came into the world Welcome to the forum, Andrew! You will find that generally, breeding is a touchy subject on internet forums. Many of us have rescues and have seen first hand the dangers of pet over-population. Huskies, unfortunately, are one of the most common breeds in rescues for many reasons that I will not get on a soapbox about. However, that being said, for that reason, there are many here (and elsewhere) that believe that breeding should only be done by active show or racing breeders who are breeding to better the breed. No one here is judging, so please don't take offense. I just wanted to explain that your story has touched upon a pretty controversial topic on internet forums. In any case, we are glad that you rescued Somara and Khaleesi is a beautiful girl! Welcome _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Both dogs were health to breed and both of them in adulthood, there was nothing Immoral about breeding Somara and Jack and the two are still together. Somara was in a small Kennel is why I say give her a better life, she now has room to roam around and good Husky company to be around always, Her and Jack are together even now, and very happy to be so. All the puppies were taken by Kind-hearted people with good intentions and homes. |

| Yes, I did quite a bit of research on Husky breeding and even breeders, Heather and myself checked the shelter prior to going and getting Somara. I understand bettering the breed and all but I wanted a loving companion not a show dog. I take no offense to jbealer's post but I just wanted to let it be known I did do my research prior to getting Somara. |
