| I feel this might get an odd response on a dog forum but keep in mind I used to have a python which I fed live mice, and a friend had an exotic small-medium sized cat that she had to feed live mice. So like it's not totally whacky.
BUT I notice my husky just loves loves loves squirrels when she see ones. Oh boy. Nothing gets more of a response than a squirrel. I am pretty sure she would just devour a mouse if I let it loose in a room.
Does anyone ever do that? Is there some potential issue with letting a husky eat a store-bought feeder mouse?
OF COURSE I'm not thinking of doing this every day. Maybe like once or twice a year if she does like it. |

| In one level i object to using a store bought mouse,, but i had a nile monitor and several snakes so i get it. Also there is a thread somewhere about how many calories are in a squirrel... after shadow ate one while one a strict diet. So in my house anything stupid enough to come in the house or yard is fair game. Mine have eaten packrats rabbits ground squirrels mice Prarie dogs. But im still on the fence about store bought ones even though i have actually discussed raising and feeding my dogs whole rabbits. I would have killed them first though. |

| Ooh. I actually don't know if I could stomach feeding rabbit myself. Mice and rats were always my limit.
Do husky's try to eat fish from ponds? I could try putting some trout or something in our little man-made pond too. |

| I dont know about fish but beware trout can cause the same issue as salmon. So use goldfish. As for rabbits, thats what kaa my nile ate.
I like rats way more then rabbits. Rabbits are stupid and rats are not. And packrats kind of look like chinchillas. And its really gross when shadow walks in with a tail sticking out of his mouth. |

| Please humanely dispatch any prey before feeding it to your dog. While feeding whole prey is perfectly acceptable dietarily, terrorizing small animals for enrichment of pets is animal abuse. While snakes require their prey to be live in order for them to trigger on it for feeding, dogs (and cats, frankly) do not. _________________ |
