Hi! I wanted to join your group because I got a puppy. She is  a Siberian Husky/Great Dane mix. I am hoping you guys allow mix breeds here because she is taking on a lot of the "crazy" I hear of the husky breed. Trust me, she's a nut or broken. Haha jk I love her so much and she is soooo smart. She turns 14 weeks tomorrow. We are in Cali and are hoping to pick up a lot of tips and tricks for entertainment and fun from you guys.

Thank you guys, she is a very pretty girl. This morning I actually realised she is 15 weeks today! Time flies with a puppy. We are thinking she might be in between the two breeds like maybe as tall as a German Sheperd? Her mom was the Siberian Husky and her dad was the Great Dane. Mila seems tall but petite. Her vet said she might top out at 50 lbs and be lanky haha

Oh goodness, those ears. She will be interesting to see grow up. Do her ears flop a little or do they manage to get all that stood up? If they can stand up I have to wonder if there isn't some German Shepard in there somewhere. I did a wisdom panel dna test on my mix who had husky in him I didn't expect him to have. Always interesting to see what is hidden inside. Welcome to the forum!

Currently they are both up, but she's been having trouble with her left one. It falls over a lot. The day I picked her up, I assumed she was meant to have down ears because she has some brothers and sisters who's ears where up. Then they randomly started sticking up more and more. We're hoping that the left one gets up permanently to prevent ear infections. I've also attached a photo of her mom, I'm not an expert on huskies but she had looked to be a purebred to me. Maybe you guys can decide. I got her for free since she was an accidental litter from an acquaintance. I just want her to be a healthy girl. i have a lot of experience with German Shepherds and that's all I can compare her too. She seems like she could be on the taller size of a male gsd he age but boy is she waay skinner. Her vet said she's healthy and just takes after the dane body type. This morning she was 22.3 lbs and I will be measuring her height this afternoon.

Yes! Such true words! I was not expecting to get a puppy any time soon but it all worked out in the end. My last dog had passed 2 years ago and I wasn't ready to get another dog because I don't exactly love the puppy crazies and training thag goes into have an amazing best friend. My dad had died this year from Alzheimer's and then I've been dealing with a messy divorce when a family member's friend was looking good homes for her accidental litter. ‍� i was hesitant but now I couldn't be happier.

I lost my girl in March she was a white Siberian husky called Skye, I love her so much and still miss her! But before she passed she had a litter and I’ve now got her 2 pups Storm and Apollo and if I didn’t have them I don’t think I could have coped with the lose of her because she was such a big part of my life!! But thank god I have got her 2 babies and the 3rd lives next door!! I’m sorry to hear about your dad and your divorce! But as the saying goes god works in mysterious ways and maybe your pup is a blessing in disguise

Up until the time I got my first Husky the majority of my dogs were Labs and really laid back ... so what do I have now, a bunch of really laid back Huskies!

Like the Dane, but probably less extreme, Huskies are typically lean ( I use the word sveldt to describe them ) I have one who was something like 15 pounds overweight when I got her and years later, it's still a challenge to keep her weight down. I sometimes get accused of not feeding my other two because they're slim and trim.

Before squirt i had mastiffs and a leonberger at my dads and my mom had a ridgeback a springer and a lab/malinois when i was in hs and college. Then i had a random assortment of things that got dropped off to be put to sleep or couldn't go to an animal shelter because of breed until we either found them a home or a breed rescue. Im really fond of cane corsos and canary dogs. Also had an arabian wolf cross the we rescued in Israel. Then almost 8 years ago came squirt. And now half my dogs are part husky and splinter really thinks he is either a husky or a wolf

Liv_sky: I'm sorry to hear about Skye, but that is really cool you get to see 3 of her pups grow up, I'm sure keeping the two did give you comfort. Dogs are so sweet. Thank you for tour kind words, I do believe Mila is a blessing for sure!

Aljones: I definitely will! Even her vet commented on how big they were! Good to know huskies are pretty lean too. I've been trying to research as much as I can about both Siberians and Danes and it seems like Mila is a good mix of both almost down the middle. Since I've just started taking her out more with her being able to walk on her own a lot of people have made comments about feeding her. So I know how you feel. Since she's been growing she has 2 days of the week that she seems pretty decently filled out and then the rest of the week she starts looking thin. 1 day of the week i can actually see her hip bone tops but no ribs show but then she starts thickening back up there as she evens out again. Hopefully she'll grow in her ears and her boney butt gets some chubs on it when she matures.

Lostmaniac: that's such a cool mix of dogs you've got to experience! I love cane corsos too. That's awesome huskies have stolen your heart.

I’ve got one of each with weight, Storm I can’t keep weight on her and she is a picky eater and Apollo I can’t get weight of and he will eat any thing and every thing! I’ve had to feed my two separate not because of aggression because Apollo will eat his food and storm will willingly allow Apollo to eat her food!x

Haha yes! At one point I had 7 dogs ranging from 7 lbs to 100 lbs and they had different diet needs and most of them thought sharing is caring. ‍� breakfast and dinner times were hectic.

Spider has such a sensitive stomach feeding her is a bitch. Shes finally not looking anorexic but if she wasnt so fuzzy people would think i starve her.

Sharing is caring lol my german shepherd would agree. So far he lost 10 lbs and still has 18 to go.

Well Storm is in season at the moment and she’s like her mum and goes even more of her food‍� But thankfully Apollo isn’t mature enough to do any thing cause he’s not even so much as sniffed her!

Spiders is just ending and even though the boys are neutered they were both way into her. She was more bitchy then normal this time. At one point the boys were trying to hide from her. I felt bad because shadow is bigger then her so he has no hiding spots.

Yeah Storm is being bitchy with hers she snapping at Apollo way more than normal and she goes from wanting to be cuddled then not wanting to know you at all there no in between

Are you getting the dirty looks also? The biggest issue this year with her being in heat was the young male coyote that was very interested and spider was very interested and coyotes are 100% monogamous and i really dont want a pet coyote.

My husbands 2 lurcher dogs have been going made for her but Apollo is completely oblivious to her, I did have hopes of studding him but I think he’s the other way‍�
Or he’s not mature enough yet to have interest‍�

For one having a wild coyote as a pet is illegal, and if i was caught would result in the coyote being euthanized whereas spider is part dog and therefore legal.

Shadow was about 3 when he started noticing females but kept mounting thier head. Some dogs (and men) need directions.

Well there might be hope for him then?? Dear Apollo he’s so innocent he’s got the loveliest temperament and he’s happy to go with the flow no worries, Storm on the other hand is a complete cow bag! Every thing is a fight with her! To get her to sit for her food is a 10 minute argument. But Apollo you ask him to sit and he’s sat gave paw down and rolled over in 30 seconds with out asking
