| Ok so here we go again! I get a phone call yesterday @ 3pm to come home and help! My husband called and Sniper was projectile vomiting! Like the exorcist!! No JOKE!! And had liquid poop! This went off and on all night long!! She was in her crate all day yesterday so we dont think she ate anything! However I was up all night with her. I dropped her off at the Vet this AM to see whats going on. Wanted an X-ray to make sure we wasnt in the same boat like back in march! Making sure there is no bowl obstruction! We can't afford another surgery :-( Im still making payments and will be for the next year on the 1st surgery! So everyone please say a lil prayer for her today! Hoping maybe its just a virus or something disposable that she ate. I am really heart broken. However this morning she was back to her normal self! jumping and playing and a small amount of solid poop. however not a lot! So....i will post after the vet calls me today |

| 12:46 - update! they done an Xray and there is something in her stomach. Done an ultrasound and cannot tell what it is. Dumb parents b/c we love our animals so much my husband agreed to do the surgery. I wanted to put her down. I know I am a horrible person but this is just gonna happen again! And this is the LAST time!! we are not financially able to pay for this! So we will be in debt for the next 5 years thanks to Sniper! I love her though and have been upset and crying all day b/c of this! Surgery wont cost as much as last time. But its been decided she is going outside! We will be looking for dog kennels this weekend to purchase and put up outside for when she is done recovering. So thanks for your thoughts! Hope she comes thru surgery ok. |

| HOLY CRAP!!! I completely understand why you would say that. Wish there was something I could think of to help you deal with that issue. But these dogs have never just snapped things up and swallowed. We don't even have problems with food on the sidewalks. Just goose and marmot poop. That's crazy crazy.
Hoping for the best here. |

| Is there a room in the house that you can dedicate to just her? I know that you have small children and sometimes it's just not possible to "puppy proof" every area of the home. I know that you all have been doing what you can and what you can afford and I applaud you for all your efforts.
She should be fine outside so long as it doesn't get too hot. Keeping her outside is going to be rough though for a husky in North Carolina. It's going to cost a lot of money for a pen and then you'll probably want to get a cooling pad or something for the outdoors. I know it gets up to 90* in NY, so I can only imagine how hot it gets down there.
I wish I could offer better advice, but I would be just as concerned of her dying from heat stroke as from her eating something.... check your local laws too that she can be kept outdoors and what you need to offer her in order to remain legal. I know you all are moving into your new house soon. Will there be a room for her there?
What about baby gates? Can you gate off a section of the house for her that doesn't have plugs, outlets, small things she can chew? Then use bitter apple to spray on anything that is harmful or potentially harmful? _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Koda, yea today is 98* here in NC. so i know we will have to make it adaptable for her. And no room that can be made hers. when we are not home she is in a crate. when we are home she is in the living area. We keep all doors closed when we are at home to prevent this for a reason! I have no idea what this could be! So we want the dog lot for temporary outside time. Not around the clock! i love her too much to do that to her! but she needs some yard time and until we can afford to fence in the whole yard this will do for now. and when we are not home she will still be inside in the AC in her crate. just when we are at home doing some things she needs to go outside for awhile. in the evenings. after it has cooled down. she will also be in the shade. we will work something out! thanks for your advice though! i am really glad that this site is here for us!! makes it easier! i dont know why i picked the dog that has to be weird! will update as soon as she is out of surgery |

| Oh Sniper will you ever learn......
now i really want to know what it was this time. maybe as she gets past this puppy stage she will not eat things? does she have plenty of raw hide or hard toys to chew on, ones of different flavors? could your little girl be putting things in her crate when your not looking since you said she was locked up most of that day? guess you wont really know till you find out what it is she ate. _________________ |

| So what did Sniper eat? is she doing ok, is she home yet? im so sorry you guys are going through all of this with her. it is just one more reason i do not want to deal with the puppy stage of dogs. is your vet able to get any funds to help you pay the bill? i think there are things out there like that that vets can call in certain cases with pets and there are organizations that will help the pet owner pay the bill, i swear i have seen it on emergency vets and on the news i think. _________________ |

| Update 3:37 pm The vet called. Sniper pulled thru like a champ and is back to her normal self today. There was NOTHING in her stomach! what ever it IS was stuck in her colon and they cant cut open the colon. So they pushed it as close to the exit as they could. Surgery was ok. No complications. They are keeping her another night to start offering food today to see if she eaats and make sure she doesnt vomit any blood or feces. Which is great! And to make sure when she takes her first poop that she passes whatever it was. I am dreading this though! Like last time her poop will be nasty for the first few days...we have a lot going on right now! moving into new house next week and vacation the week after!! Bonfire and his fiance will be "boarding" sniper :-) i dont feel comfortable with her at a public boarding place after a major surgery. i wanna make sure she is well taken care of!! I will let you guys know tomorrow what they say about her coming home. Thanks for all the prayers!! |

| Glad sniper is doing good! When we had Jax right when he started getting close to 2 he started to grow out of the eating everything in site stage. Although he chose to eat dental floss one day and it took his life, it did get better. I can say I noticed that when we exercised him allot he didn't chew on things. It was when he was home for a long period of time and didn't get walked that he would run crazy and eat stuff. |

| ok so forgive me but im not sure i will sound stupid or not but if the vet said they saw something in her stomach and you agreed to cut her open and get it out only to find it was not in her stomach but in her colon (in which case they could not cut open) would the vet not be held responsible some what for the cost of the now unneeded surgery, since they could not cut open the colon? i mean would they have still cut her open if they knew the object was in her colon to push it along? or was it in her stomach and by the time they did the surgery it moved to her colon in which case would they have not rechecked the object location before cutting into her? i would be pissed if i paid for something that in the end was unnecessary because they miss judged where the object was. sorry i am just wondering, we, thank god have not had to deal with anything like this, but it is always good to know if it ever does happens (crossed fingers). _________________ |

| But she said when they opened her there was nothing in her stomach? Which makes me think that they were too late the and object had already passed. I'm in Jenn's camp. I'd ask about it at least. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Brandon the vet told me there was nothing in her stomach when they opened her up and yes when i pick her up something will be said about the bill. If what they say on xray and ultrasound was a glare or something then i should be responsible for the complete bill! cant help they mis read the xrays. so something will definately be said today. they said the inside lining was really thick in her stomach which probably came from all of the vomiting. and whatever the object was it was already in her colon and t hats what was causing the vomiting and diahrea. so we will be discussing all of this today with the vet. I appreciate all of your concerns. we have another long 2 weeks ahead of us |

| OK so sniper came home yesterday w/out passing whatever they thought was in there. She had not pooped since she had been there but there was nuthing in her stomach to be able to pass. she is doing good acting like her normal self. She pooped this morning and i poked around in it and couldnt feel anything abnormal. So i guess we are not out of the woods yet. Crossing my fingers that she will be ok. |

| Ok so sniper is doing well! Pooping good eating good! Not drinking water but i fixed that today! flavored her water with chicken broth!! ha ha fool you! LOL so thats good! we are leaving for vacation on sunday and she was suppose to be boarded but the kennel wont take a post-op patient. so the best person in the world is gonna watch her for us!! Bonfire and his woman!! :-) Thankful for them!! She goes that same week for staple removal. so tomorow is one week post op! woohoo! hopefully moving this weekend. got her a nice dog lot to put together in the shade for some downtime in the evenings. this will do until we can fence the whole yard in with privacy fence which is expensive as crap by the way!! But she is doing well! thanks for all of the positive thoughts and prayers! |

| How'd it go with the vet? Are they making you pay a bill that apparently was a surgical procedure for absolutely nothing?! Not that I'm not happy Sniper is fine, but I'd be livid! I understand mistakes happen, but that's a mistake that they shouldn't make you pay for! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |
