| As I've mentioned before I have more than my fair share of animals, it's 3 cats and 3 dogs ... and if they don't get their act together it's gonna be fewer cats and maybe fewer dog!
Over the past couple of days two of my cats have been having a free-for-all. It's not dominance 'cause there's no debate about who's dominant - the tabby weighs in at about 1/3 again the size of the other two but my black cat has been insisting he's gonna come out on top. Sorry guy but it ain't a gonna happen. I thought the Tabby was the instigator but caught them tonight in a fight, the tabby kept backing off and the black cat just kept right on a'coming. If I could get the black in a cage, he needs to go see the vet since he has a running wound from a previous fight but he won't go into a kitty crate for love nor money and I pick him up only at danger to myself. I'd need a pair of welders glove to put him in the cage .... So much for the cats!
I've had an ongoing 'thing' with Sky and Avalanche eating on the front porch. When I started feeding them there it wasn't a problem but I had the door open today and heard Sky growl - she's putting Avalanche off his food. She hasn't eaten all of hers but she's not going to let him get to his. Went out and moved his to where she can't get close to it and, as is getting to be typical, neither finished what I'd put out for them. Sky gets one cup twice a day and Avalanche gets one in the AM and two in the PM - and he normally eats all of his.
Sasha's been running around the house whining. She's been fed, has water, got her evening 'treat' and still sets there whining about something. Normally she let's me know what it is she wants - no water, she'll set by the water bowl; food, she'll set and stare at her food bag; out, she'll wander between me and the door ... tonight, I have no blithering idea! I had her in to the vet about a month ago and she's fine.
I can always find a home for a cat. Sky might become a candidate for rehoming even though I've had her for - what - 3 - 5 years.
Shit, setting here typing this and Sky and Sasha decide to get into a scuffle over nothing......
End of rant, it's just been a bad animal day ..... _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| I know how that goes. Well i did until squirt decided to kill both the cats. And i know about the thinking about rehoming a dog thing, ive been on the fence with squirt for quite awhile. And as far as whining and anxiety all of mine are acting weird i think its the weather or that its high stress in the house for the last few weeks. Between spider getting sick the truck breaking the discovery that Chrysler broke my truck, having to spend $600 on a rental car 350 on towing ive been having a bad February. And that was all before i had to go get my mom and stepdad involved. I wish i could blame it all on the animals or all on the truck
How bout i trade you squirt for the cats? |

| Kenzi whines for seemingly no reason. It's super irritating. I know there's a reason though and I'm pretty sure it's allergies giving her a headache so she's uncomfortable and unhappy and is going to let the world know about it. I say this because her nose has decided to run to the extent that one nostril is all but closed. She got a round of antibiotics a couple weeks ago for a UTI. I've been knocking her out at night with benedryl so that she won't be so restless and keep up awake with her up and down of the bed and nose whistles. Sometimes you just do what you gotta do. Kenzi doesn't keep others from eating but she will guard her bowl even if she doesn't want it until I pick it up. If they don't start eating pretty much immediately in my house the bowl will get picked up and taken away and they won't see it again until next feeding. By then they are usually fairly hungry but I don't give more food. They only get what they didn't eat last time if the bowl was untouched.
Got a live trap maybe for the cat? Maybe if you can get close enough you could hit him with the bactine spray at a distance. Some of the spray types have some reach then at least something would have been placed on the wound for a bit. Barn cats used to get a rubbermaid tote thrown over them while eating to capture if we could get close enough. Pre-drilled holes for air then it was like trying to slide a piece of cardboard under a cupped spider attempting to get the lid under the tote edges and shut on the critter. At that point it was on the vet to have his welding gloves.
Maybe it's something in the air. Pollen of the butthead plant. _________________ |

| @LostManiac ... er, if you don't mind I'll keep the devils I know. Squirt sounds like he might be a little more than I want to handle. Anyway, the good thing about the cats is that I haven't seen a mouse or any kind of rat for a couple of years! Naw, thanks, but I think I'll stick with what I've got here. @TwisterII With Sasha it's either a loud whine saying "I want <something>" or a low whine meaning ... who knows. It doesn't get worse and most of the time she doesn't whine without cause. It's 9:30PM, time for evening "treats" (her meds and treats) and I'm getting a low whine now because I'm late. (( Oops, it's getting louder ... )) The real reason for the last vet visit was to make sure that there isn't something going on that I'm not seeing and Mary said that the only ongoing problem are the spurs on her spine and they shouldn't be causing any pain (from the x-ray, they're on the lower part of her spine ...<????>) the only time I see anything like discomfort that I *might* attribute to the bone spurs is when she's going around in circles before she lays down. Most dogs circle three - four times and then lay down, she circles six - ten times and then it just doesn't look like a lay down, it's more of a flop. Re food: since I let Sasha out off lead I pick up anything they've left before I let her out or she'll wolf it down. We've got her weight down to a nice 55 pounds, she might be better to loose another 5 but Mary's satisfied with the 55 - consider that she was pushing 65 a couple of years ago. @everyone ... well, I messed up this evening. I fed Sasha in the kitchen and opened the gate for her to go out (and maybe come back in ... or she'll go 'round front to come in.) So the gate was unlatched when I let the other two in and of course, Sky goes and pushed on the gate and she's off. Ran around outside for about a half hour before she decided to come back -- I wouldn't mind except she, like Avalanche, runs in the road - well, there aren't any thorns there (mesquite is a thorny bear and is all over this desert!!) _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Im glad spider is really territorial sometimes because she has scat marked the property line and unless its to chase something off she basically stays around... but her out of the fence loose is never on purpose. When i lived out on the prairie/open range area squirt and shadow would go raid peoples bbq grills at the national monument 10 miles away. Oh 2 days in a row we have this huge orange tabby hanging around. It keeps harassing my dogs but i have a feeling its why we havent seen mice or pack rats lately. @aljones here we have cacti and sagebrush |
