| Hi! I’m concerned about my huskys skin. We found out he had a heart murmur a few weeks back and today he had a echo done to getter look at it bexause here soon he will be going in to get neutered and we want to make sure we know how to best treat him while being under anesthesia. While getting the echo done today the tech shaved two spots on each side of his chest. I am for one not a believer is shaving a husky bexause I believer it effects their skin and coat. I’ve attached a picture and would just like some opinions on what to due. It’s very red but he is not bothered by it, I haven’t seen him even lick it. The scratches where there at the vet so I’m assuming it’s from the clippers. thank you!

| Just from first blush, I think you're right - it looks like the tech got a little overly aggressive with the clippers and nipped a bit of skin.
Personal comment - that's a piss poor job of "shaving" for much of anything!
ETA: Typically, totally "shaving" for summer heat is a bad thing, their coats either take forever to grow in right or seem to never grow back right. The small amount they shave for surgery, spaying for example, normally looks odd for a while but eventually grows back and looks normal ... says the guy with a female Husky who's got more hair on her belly than her back, I think! _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Rub some coconut oil on it to help with the irritation. It'll take a bit but will eventually fill back in. _________________ |
