Do you guys have any advice on how to get a 10 week old husky puppy used to grooming? Anytime i try to brush her she runs from me and tries to get away, I've tried a metal comb and a slicker brush and I brush lightly so I don't hurt her skin. I don't want to hold her down and traumatize her while she is still so young but I know it is going to be important for her to learn to accept being groomed because she is a wooly coat. Any advice I can get to help this would be appreciated, thank you!

I'll tag a couple of people who will be able to help you a lot more than I.

I had to get my rescue used to getting brushed...this is how I did it...

Try approaching your pup while she is relaxed, but not asleep.
Sit down near her and let her see or sniff the comb or brush, then just run it lightly over her a few times while speaking nicely to her.
Then pet for a bit.

Next time, you can comb/brush a bit longer, but still end with something like a tummy rub or petting that she likes.

Eventually (hopefully) she will find it relaxing, and should let you comb/brush her more thoroughly...

I still only brush one side at a time though (because he is laying down)! I try to remember what side it was, and do the other side next time! It's not a formal grooming stance...but, if he will accept being brushed to get the loose fur out, that's enough for me.

( During coat blow, I not only use the comb/brush, I gently pull out huge tufts of undercoat with my fingers!! In between coat blows, I can run the comb over him and there is hardly any fur caught in it.)

Thank you for the advice I will try that and try to get her worked up to it. I have let her smell the comb and brush and she wants to chew on it lol but I will definitely try to work her up slowly. Would it be a good idea to distract her with a chew toy? Maybe a Kong with some treats in it?

Definitely treats!  Having a tired pup helps a lot too. Someone can be giving him treats while you brush him gently. That is how I was able to train mine to accept being groomed (brushed, nails filed down etc.) and you get him used to being handled.

Lots of good advice above. You could also use the back side of the brush (the non-bristled smooth plastic side) to "pretend" brush them to get them used to it.

When I first start using the pin brush, I hold it at an angle so that it glides across their fur more easily. Then slowly rotate it so the pins are perpendicular to their fur as they get used to me brushing them.

Treats work....(for all kinds of "unpleasant" things like having paws handled, muzzle on, etc...)

Grooming while the dog is chewing on something is a little different...some dogs have a bad reaction to that because they get possessive and don't like to be touched while they are enjoying their "special object". So I think the feeding treats by hand would be better than giving a Kong or chew!
