2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Hi. This might be a stupid question but I will soon be the owner of a new pup. I have a Chevy Colorado short bed pickup. Now, I know from experience that if I had a cap on it, a dog (not a pup) would be fine back there. However, I'm I don't really want to get a cap for it. I also surmise that huskies are not good in pickup beds as they can easily jump out. So, have any of you ever used or see used something in the bed that the husky could be attached to while still providing limited movement? I guess using a crate that's strapped in is one option but I thought about a strap going between the front tie downs and then something going to the dog. The vehicle is a lease and if I ever used this method it would only be occasional. TIA!

Don't use a tie down. It's a good way to hang a dog if they decide to jump out the back. I've seen where some will have the sliding back glass and run the leash up through it but you would have to keep the leash short enough that he couldn't get to the side of the bed which is hard with how small the bed is. Best to use a crate. Far safer, much easier on them. The more closed in ones similar to what airlines use cut some of the wind that can bother some dog's ears. If you had a car accident the dog will be far safer. People can actually steal your dog at a stop light pretty easily if you just have them tied in the bed.

Thanks. I was almost thinking of a tie down that had something in the middle to keep a short leash from moving sideways but, you're right. An animal carrier might be my best bet. Thanks!
