HD gift card used up.... but i did get this Clematis "nelly moser" and i installed a valve for the raised bed as my aunt said the sage was getting to much water now i can control the water flow since this is hooked to the timer of the grass and does not need that much water. i will try for 15 min. every 3 days and see what happens. and my 69cent pansies are doing great _________________

well i went out back to water my veggies and i looked at my salvia and it had all fallen to the sides and you could see clear into the center of the plant! i was like ok this happened last year from the weight and size of the plant but then i noticed one was not like that then i hear a noise see a squirrel run on the fence and sierra jumps in the garden and BAM! right on to the plant... i guess that's why its flat I HATE SQUIRRELS!!!! and my stepables closest to the back have disappeared from being stomped on, im hoping they come back. _________________

Sorry im just in LOVE with my front garden right now and here are more pictures! my clearance yarrow from last year is going crazy!!! i swear these daises are like 4.5ft tall! again on the clearance rack 2 yrs ago. i just got lucky and all the colors look so good together the snow in summer flowers are growing and i hope they bloom soon, my sage seems to be in recovery, think it was to much water and not enough heat. the far back one is getting the purple spikes on it i do see some holes that i would love to fill in still and i do have a buy2 get one free from HD that is up tomorrow so we will see... _________________

Pretty, Jenn! Question for you. I have a bunch of clearance Yarrow in my backyard waiting for me to take it up to NC in a couple weeks. How much water do you give them once established and how do they handle heat? The Yarrow I have is still in pots obviously and it's pretty hot here but if I don't water them at least once every 24 hours (for example if I water them Saturday morning and then again Sunday evening) they all go completely limp with the leaves and flower stalks drooping down the side of the pot. I've never seen such a water needy plant and I'm starting to get really irritated with them. In truth I didn't even want to get them but my mother in law wants them so I got them for her. Do you think it's the SC heat causing this or do they really need water super frequently until they're established? _________________

Val, i had that issue the first yr i planted the yarrow the whole summer i was going out and watering just that flower! this year it has needed less care and maybe a few times a week i water it. now we have not had super hot weather yet so i can't be sure i will not be out watering that flower more. the front yard gets the sprinklers 2x's a day every other day and this yarrow has been fine. i have 3 more smaller like half the sz in the back and those are the ones im hand watering and seem to be fine so far, i can keep you posted but i know for sure the first yr i was out there almost every day! i love them so i will put up with the extra care, they just get so big and look so natural, and spread/grow so fast. _________________

Oi, that wasn't what I wanted to hear. My MIL wants to plant the Yarrow I got for her in the yard of the NC house. The water issue was what I was so concerned about and no one lives at the NC house to be able to water the plants on a regular basis and there are no sprinklers at the house so it'll be only whatever rainwater comes down. I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this. By the way, I love the colorful mix in the second from the last picture! _________________

funny that it says that it is a drought tolerant plant.... i really thing that is true the 2nd yr around. although the one i have in the back yard was just about dead when i picked it up off the rack at lowes last year and it came back later that summer and has been doing good this year with not much help. i say plant it and see what happens. maybe it welting over is ok as long as it gets water once in awhile... do you have anyone that comes and looks over the home when no one it there to water? _________________ |

The next door neighbor there who is retired is pretty nice and he keeps an eye on the property for us, he gives us updates on how much rain they're getting and how the yard looks over the phone. I've thought about asking him to water plants in the yard for us if they are not getting enough rain but am hesitant to ask for favors of him. _________________

Wow, I am absolutely amazed with the quality of pics that cell phones can take nowadays. I've taken some pics of flowers in my yard and when I opened them up on the computer I was blown away by how the quality of my cell pics were as good as my P&S camera pics! Awesome stuff! Who needs a camera when you have a cell phone that takes pics that good?! _________________

What kind of squash is it? My cilantro went crazy with growth, got HUGE and then all fell over and turned brown. My chives and parsley have had nice, slow and steady growth and they're doing just fine. I had to pull out all my dead cilantro yesterday...don't think I'll be doing that again next year. _________________
