Anybody else having issues with TOWT lately? Empty
PostSubject: Anybody else having issues with TOWT lately?   Anybody else having issues with TOWT lately? EmptySun Apr 02, 2017 5:42 pm

I put my husky-mix on TOWT when we got him. He loved it originally, would eat the whole bowl without a problem.

But a month or so ago (end of feb / early march) we bought another bag on amazon. Since buying this bag, he's had issues with vomiting and refuses to eat the food unless we mix something else in the food. One day he went 2 days without touching the bowl of food.

I've been seeing many negative reviews on amazon and a whole consumer affairs report on this issue.

Has anyone else been having this issues with TOWT? Has Diamond put out any form of statement regarding this?

Kisuka, I follow up with the recall information that comes my way - mostly from DogFoodAdvisor - and I haven't seen a recent recall - that said, ConsumerAffairs website is showing several incidents in the past month or two for Diamond and several others for TOTW.

It's *very* rare for a manufacturer (distributor, most don't manufacture themselves) to make any kind of statement - probably a liability issue.  Even after a recall, most don't say anything if they even acknowledge on their web site that there has been a recall.

All of that out of the way, if your pup is experiencing vomiting (or diarrhea, etc) after a change of food, then *in my eyes* the food is suspect and I'd go back to one that he's eaten before after a change to a chicken-rice (or similar) diet.

I hope you don't mind but I had to chuckle at "one day he went two days without eating" - - time flies or was that one really draggy day??

Draggy days, didn't do much. I mean still played and stuff but would just sit around and not even touch the food until we mixed it with some eggs or some wet food.

What flavor were/are you feeding? Have you swapped flavors and had the same issue? Also, do you always buy from Amazon? I poked through the consumer affairs post and saw others had bought from Amazon too. Might be that Amazon is shipping old batches. Wish people on consumer affairs was more thorough about stating where they got their food and what flavor. Would be much easier to tell if any correlations. I feed TOTW Pacific stream and haven't had any issues, but I buy from a local feed store who picks up their food directly from the manufacturing facility every week so their food doesn't sit around in a warehouse as Amazon's may.

I would get rid of the bag that has made your dog vomit and pick up a five pound bag of a different flavor from a local store if you can find it and see how that goes.

We tried going through different flavors to see which one he liked the most. Originally started with Pacific Stream which is what I've switch him back to since the vomiting. The one that was causing the vomiting was the Wildfowl one.

Yeah we always buy it on Amazon because I can't seem to find any stores in LA county that sell it.

I feed TOTW, High Prairie most of the time. I get it from Chewys.com and have had no problem.

Go to their website and there's a Where to Buy on that page, just enter your zip code - for Los Angeles, CA it shows - well, it looks like hundreds of places.

I also feed Pacific stream 0 issues, but I get it from my local Tractor Supply store. I also know if buying thru chewy, as well as brick and mortar, most will take back the bad bag and give a new bag. With that said, one never knows where your dog food is coming from, how long it sat in a warehouse, nor what temperature ranges a particular bag goes thru. For instance you being in California, maybe that bag came from the Northeast, where they just had bad weather, and then took it's time thru warmer states then back thru colder states, etc. The fluctuation can change the food, moist conditions could make the food moldy, who knows. If there is no store to personally pick up the bag, then chewy is far better to get your food, if there is a problem they work with you, also they have nation wide warehouses. My treats I get from chewy currently come from a warehouse in Indiana, chewy is building a new ware house in Dallas, so I will be getting my items 1-2 days vs 2-3 days and basically shipped locally, since Dallas is only around 175 miles away from me, no significant temp changes, which makes me happy. Smile I have heard of a few complaints, and really when people thought about the issue it was something else and not TOTW or that they also purchased thru Amazon, I would therefore change my source of where I got my kibble first before I switched brands.

We feed TOTW, not sure what flavor we are on, we switch it up ever few shipments. We buy from Chewys.com as well. Just got a bag last week and they have been fine.

i would also maybe send a stool sample in and test for any bugs if he picked something up.
