2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hey ya'll! I'm new here and new to owning a husky. I don't know if he's full blood because he's rather small, only 32 lbs, but he's beautiful to me! I will pick him up Monday from a shelter. Apparently, he was someone's dog, but they didn't take good care of him. He's 18 months now. The few times we've met him, he's been such a sweet, mild mannered boy. He's not house trained so that's the first thing we will be working on is crate training. Any tips on bringing him home, introducing him to our other dog, a pomeranian? Tips on exercise, grooming, etc...I'm all ears! I've read some posts, and they've been very helpful.

Hi Maverick and welcome to the forum.

One comment - be very careful introducing him to the pom - some Huskies are great with small furry critters; some are great with small dogs but not other furry things and some see any small furry things as prey.

You'll see other places on the forum more specific suggestions about how to introduce two dogs - but the simple version is to have them, on leashes, meet on some common ground.

Meeting initially on leash might help if you need to separate them. But keep in mind, many dogs have different on-leash and off-leash behavior. A lot of dogs can be more aggressive, territorial, and protective of their humans if they meet on-leash. If possible, I would try to let them greet off-leash, outside of your home, without any humans holding either of them. If the Pom is particularly attached to a certain family member, I'd even keep that person out of the picture at first.
