| So Luka discovered how to escape from the office we had him in during the day when we're at work. We bought an "extra tall" baby gate to contain him in there, since that was the room we didn't care about getting damaged... So Monday the mister went home to walk him at lunch, and lo and behold, Luka greeted him with Mia at the door.
Apparently, there's a little teeny gate within the gate that you can open if you have a cat or small chihuahua sized dog that needed to get through the house. This was held shut with a screw...that Luka managed to snap. He somehow managed to squeeze himself through the little opening, and made his escape.
The security footage was great, though. He did zoomies for about half an hour and was SO proud of himself! So far, not much damage, apart from tea towls that were on the oven, and a pair of placemats from the table... But that seems to be it for keeping him cooped up in one room. We'd ziptie the cat flap closed, but he likes eating zipties, even the heavy duty ones.
Luka's almost 5 months...Mia we gave up on three weeks (she was 2 at the time) in because she escapes from everything....How old were your pups when and if they finally got free range? |

| Sofie my gsd pup has always had free range, when teething she ate 2 pairs of older shoes, and that was it. My husky wasn't trustworthy at all until well over a year old probably 18 months old, before destruction ceased. even still, 3 hours is the max Miya can be alone, and I probably would come home to damage if I was gone longer than that. With my gsd the only issue was potty in the house pre 6 months, so I crated her when I left. At 11 months old and 3.5 years old I can safely leave them for about 2 hours, haven't tried longer than that. Hope that helps, I will say from what I have read here a trustworthy husky is not common under a year old. |

| I'm not super concerned, my husband comes home every three ish hours to check and we get a live feed from our security system so we can keep an eye on him. Mias been real good about keeping him busy too. In the morning he passes out, and then he's only up for a couple of hours without us here. I think of we were to be gone more than three or four hours we'd have to figure out another way to keep him in the office tho... That would be pushing his house breaking. He's pretty good most of the time tho. |
