My dog is having blood in stool. He seems to be getting healthier, but the blood is not going away. Would he be getting better if it was something serious?

Day 1 he was vomiting mucus and once it had a very small amount of blood in it. Then he started to diarrhea which had a little blood in it (like little specs of jelly, not runny blood) and was very lethargic, no appetite for food or water. That night he ate and drank a little.

Day 2 he seemed so much better. His personality was back and he was eating more (diet of rice and chicken). This kept progressing. We are now on day 4 and he seems totally himself, maybe a bit more lethargic and less hungry than usual. His poop is still soft but coming out in solid pieces, however there is still some dark blood on the outside of it. The most recent poo was 4 soft but connected pieces - the 1st had blood on the outside of it but the others had no blood in or on it.

I guess my question is would he be getting better like this if there was something serious? Any insight / help would be greatly appreciated!

Blood is no joke, take him to the vet.....if he is a puppy there is serious issues you may not have thought of....and even if he is an adult he could now be dehydrated, anyway you look at it, blood is not something you should wait and see. Take him to the vet ASAP....

Forgot to mention that he is 2 years old, and several times a day I will apply pressure to his stomach and lower abdomen and there is no reaction of pain or whimpering whatsoever.

I agree, a vet trip is needed. And take them a poop sample that is recent when you go. If his poop is coming out soft and wrapped or coated in something almost mucus like (sometimes it's dark and jelly-ish) it is possible it is just stress colitis and a severe case at that. This requires meds to fully get over. He might also have an ulcer, again meds are needed. The bland diet will help sooth his belly and intestines and help him get better but heavier meds are most likely needed to fix him completely up. It might not be either of those things either. The possibility of something more serious is definitely there. Keep up the bland diet and go ahead and take him into the vet as soon as you can.

Huskies are the type of dog that will not show pain in general. So pushing on tummy may not be a good indicator of a problem. He may also have worms, or a blockage, and some blockages you might not actually feel. sorry to sound mean, but blood is always the time I would go to a vet, diarrhea or a throw up is normal now and then, but both and blood showing isn't common. You're not sounding mean at all! I genuinely appreciate it. I'm just trying to balance out all sources here. His most recent stool had VERY little blood in it. He's running around and playing and starting to eat some normal dry food. Drinking plenty of water.

I'm going to see if the next few poops are continuing to look better and take him in in the morning if not.

Do you recall your dog getting into something he shouldn't have? I agree with the others, bloody poop and vomit is no joke. I would take a look at the vet. something could be going on in his digestive system that you can't see. Keep us posted
