| Hey everyone!
Maybe some of you can share some of your stories and or advice. We adopted our purebred siberian Shiloh at 8 weeks. We have had him for almost 2 weeks now and he is very smart. He does all the basic commands and we are working on housetraining which he almost has. We are home all day (parents retired) so he's with us. I have had a Husky before so I remember some of the training but not all of it. What I would like to know is why my 9 wk old doesn't sleep during the day!! He wakes up at 7:30am, goes outside to do his business, runs around our backyard (can't take him to a park for a good run because he isn't fully vaccinated yet and I also don't want to overtax his growing joints and muscles with too much running). He is pretty energetic until 11:30am, crashes for maybe an hour, wakes up then just wants to play outside until the sun sets. Do I have a hyper puppy on my hands or is this typical 9 week husky behavior? Thanks guys! |

| Your description sounds familiar, so I'd say yeah, it's normal. I do remember a lot of sleeping too but it might have been a little later in their puppyhood. Was only a little over a year ago that Mishka was that age, you'd think I would remember better! I still say yeah, pretty normal |

| Loki was always a napper, but my parents have a lab mix that is the energizer bunny. From the time she wakes up until bed time it is gogogo. I don't think it's abnormal, they just have different personalities. Your puppy sounds like an adorable handful lol! |

| Also, you've only had your pup a short while. He may settle down as time goes by. Or not |

| We thought we were going to lose our minds when Vegas was a puppy. As huskies go, she's not too hyper, but it seemed like she NEVER slept. And, of course, she's a husky, so while she was awake she got into everything all the time, so we never had a single quiet moment.
Fortunately, I have always found that dogs adjust to your schedule as they grow up. Our old boy, Buford (hound/border collie mix) was a holy terror as a puppy, and he liked to go "exploring" at night. Once he learned that all the lights went off and he couldn't go anywhere, though, he settled down into sleeping at night and adventuring during the day. Louie, our other dog at the time, was adopted as an adult, but he was an early-to-rise type when we got him. It was summer when we got him, so we were all sleeping in late, and he adjusted pretty quickly after a few hideously early mornings.
Good luck! |

| Karma is the perfect husky untill now, inside she is very calm. Sleeps most of the time, she does play but not as wild as outside. When we go outdoors tho she is very active and alert to her surroundings. karma adjusted perfect to my schedule. We easy stand up at 6 am but we can sleep out also With time im sure Shiloh will adjust to your rythm of life. |
