| On October 25, 2015, Salix Animal Health of Deerfield, Florida announced it is expanding the September 30, 2015 recall of its Good 'n' Fun Beefhide Chicken Sticks because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The FDA reports says that salmonella has been detected which is a bit stronger than saying that "it has the potential."
Salmonella is a bacteria that can affect the health of both pets and humans.
The recalled Good ‘n’ Fun Beefhide Chicken Sticks were distributed nationwide to Dollar General, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores. This product is also available at WalMart, Academy Sports and others //aj.

| According to a notice posted at PetSmart retail stores, Hill's Science Diet is in the process of conducting a voluntary market withdrawal of some of its canned dog food products for unspecified reasons. To learn which products are affected, please visit the following link: Hill's Science Diet Dog Food Market Withdrawal on SusanThixton's blog (which is the target of the above link) she says: - Quote :
Susan Thixton November 27, 2015 at 10:00 pm
A Hill’s Science Diet Account Manager who subscribes to TruthaboutPetFood.com newsletter mistakenly responded to my email (me) I sent out instead of forwarding it to I suspect someone internal (received tonight). Their email said…
“I remember we talked about this now. Do we have an official response?”
At the time of this posting, neither the FDA nor Hill's have made a statement giving the reason for the recall. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| This is interesting Al.........Purina's and Fromm's recall are for vitamins. Currently most manufacturers obtain vitamin packets that come from China, so even if the food is made here the vitamins may not. This is why Acana is switching over their formulas so no packs are needed, and Fromm is switching over to European sources. Problem is Vitamin K I do believe(need to check) China is the only synthetic source, and synthetic is what the majority off all dog food's use, otherwise it needs to come from a food source. As always Al thank you for posting the recalls, it is very much appreciated. |

| A little side note Al, since recalls for cat food is hard to find, but this is worth noting. Wellness canned cat food is having a voluntary recall. They are saying it is thru a different brand that processes at their facility, but wanted to remove all product just in case, claim is foreign material found in the product, not disclosing what the foreign material is, or what company they process for. Here's the link http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/update/ |
