Hello my name is Terry. Our family rescued a 3 year old brown & white Siberian Husky named Layla about 6 weeks ago. She was surrendered by her owners to the Camarillo Animal Shelter and my son Patrick (23) feel in love with her. He drove us crazy until we agreed to give her forever home. Poor Layla was attacked by 2 Pit Bulls just 2 days before we adopted her. She is a little skiddish of most dogs, but is very loving, playful and apparently well trained. We are slowly figuring out what she knows and what her habits are. My biggest worry is her drastically changing moods! One minute she is loving and playful but then she become "whacked out" and jumps on us and tearing threw the house like a nut! I seriously thought she was mentally unstable until my daughter found your forum today and had a lot of questions answered regarding her behaviors. My husband and I are seniors and our 2 adult children live at home. Our Layla has certainly brought a lot of "excitement" to our home, she is very different from our last dog "Precious" who was a laid back cocker spaniel.

Hello Terry, thanks so much for joining and sharing your story with us! Layla is incredibly cute, so congrats on rescuing her. They are VERY different from a cocker spaniel, indeed. Big understatement there Do you know much about the breed? Are you wanting to address the "mood changes" in the house and the zoomies/running around?

Welcome to the forum! Thanks for getting a rescue dog. that is too bad about the dog attack. I would try to get working with her around good calm dogs right away so that fear doesn't get too set in to her. Show her that nice dogs still do exist. She's beautiful. I hope you all are ready to exercise, exercise, exercise. _________________

Welcome to the forum!!! Thanks for rescuing and sharing your story. I would try and spend some time on socializing her around sedate calm dogs so she knows there is good out there. Also I would try and social her at public places too! (Tractor Supply, Pet Store etc.) I would love to hear that she got over her fear in the future and that it did not progress. Additionally Moody haha, I could have misunderstood but yep you have an active dog now that will express her need for exercise by "out bursts" or zoomies. What will be nice is having so may adults in the same household she should be able to convince each of you to have a "thing" with her to help her release some of that energy. Fetch chase play with one, walks runs with another, training for obedience agility or tricks with another and then any one of you will be helping her "outlet" that energy. Have fun and glad you are here!
