| We adopted Sonia in November of 2014 at six weeks old and today we took in loki who's according to his previous parents is 10 months old. Any tips or tricks for an untrained 10 month old male? |

| Thanks for joining the forum.
Can you be more specific about what you're looking for? Are you having problems? If you narrow it down it's easier to help. |

| He has little to no obedience training and is in my estimate only about half potty trained. Sonia because she was so young was a very simple approach to train. I have never trained an adolescent dog before he is completely uninterested in it. |

| I generally rely on positive reinforcement training with small treats, but loki hasnt shown the least bit of interest in treats soft or hard, rawhide or jerky, only very large bones |

| What does half potty trained mean? He either pees inside or he doesn't. Are you crating him? |

| Sometimes he goes to the door to be let out other he just squats right in front of us and we have to stop him. |

| How much alone time do they get? What's your schedule like? How do they sleep? Are you using corrections at all for misbehavior? If so, what type?
Just trying to better understand your situation. |

| I work nights and our Shepard heeler mix and Sonia have been crated until they were able to be trusted in the house alone. They both are potty trained and well behaved. When they misbehave we tell them to go lay down and make them stay in there beds. But to be truthful I have been very lucky they don't do much that warrants more than a firm no. He's a good dog but with no Interest in treats my standard choice to train him for sit stay lay heel and so forth isn't working. I have him in the crate while I'm at work but while I was home with him today he wanted out when he had to pee but was OK with pooping in the house. I was just wondering if there is another method your community might suggest |
