Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. | Hello!
My husband and I currently have a year old Corgi and we will be bringing home our first Siberian Husky this upcoming Sunday! We are so thrilled! He will be 8 weeks old when we bring him home. We haven't picked out a name yet, but have a couple in mind.
I have been soaking up tons of information on this forum since we made the decision. Could anyone point me to a post about introducing a puppy to the fur baby we already have? We aren't worried about Tetra (our Corgi) because she does well with other dogs, but that's always outside of our home.
Thanks in advance and so excited to become a member of the husky family! |

| Thanks for the links! Both were helpful. I think we will have them meet in our driveway and then wander into the backyard and see how that goes. The breeder said she will bathe our little guy before we pick him up. And, from what we could tell when we visited the farm, all the pups seemed pretty socialized.
Also, glad to see another Missourian! We were worried our Midwest summers may be too hot for a husky, but so far we have noticed people have huskies all over the world (even in tropical areas). |

| Huskies are very resilient and that fur isn't just for keeping them warm, but also keeps them cool in the summer (hence why shaving them in a huge no no). They tend to become less active in the summer when it is warmer and they can overheat but I have found my girl to be very tolerant as long as she has access to shade and water. Once it hits 90 though I usually just keep her inside with AC running and walk her in the late evenings after the sun has gone down. _________________ |

| Good to know. We will plan on earlier or later walks in the summer then. |
