| So Gaia seems to really enjoy digging in her water bowl. She will drink for a little bit, then stick one paw in the bowl, and then eventually start digging and splashing the water out all over the floor. Does anyone else's dog do this? If so, how did you train him/her to not do that anymore? |

| Ami doesn't but Archer (my grandpuppy that I dog sit 3 days a week, at the moment). He is a royal PIA Loves, loves, loves water. Digs in it, lies in it, rolls in it...When he is here I have to fill the water bowls multiple times a day. I have several bowls spread throughout the yard for them. The only thing that worked for me this summer was using a stockpot that I bungied the handles to a tree. Not helpful indoors, I'm afraid. Oh, I do have a smaller stockpot for his crate - I bungied the handles to the crate - put the pot in the corner near the door with each handle on one side wall - took the bungie, hooked it on one side brought it around the corner and then hooked it to the other handle. What about and elevated water bowl stand? |

We tried that, and she knocked it over sideways lol. The funny thing is, she HATES water. We tried to give her a bath with the hose and she screamed and yelped like crazy. I was worried that the neighbors would come outside because they thought we were abusing her or something. She wouldn't get in the bathtub either, or even let us pour a cup of water over her without trying to escape. But she loves to dig water out of her bowl and roll around in it. Go figure. xD |

| He doesn't do it in the apartment any more, but often does it at the dog park. It took a long time to teach him not to, when he was little, I would just put very little water in the bowl and watch him while he drank. Mostly it was just learning to listen to me when I told him to cut it out, now he understands, no bowl digging in the house. When he started digging he was either thirsty and wanted more, or done and just wanted to play. So, I'd put a wee bit more in and if he didn't drink it then I picked up the bowl. I think he does it to cool his paws and belly. |
