| Lycan is our 4 month old sibe pup and has odd looking fur-less patches on either side of his nose. Does anyone have any idea what they could be? Would they leave scars? I'm worried. Thanks in advance for any input. PS: In my area there is no decent vet clinics which could run blood tests n stuff. |

| You will need veterinary assistance to get a definitive answer. It could be the beginnings of ringworm or zinc deficiency or he could be chafing his snout on a crate, fence or other rough thing or other things that don't occur to me at the moment. |

| My first thought from what I see is Zinc Responsive Dermatosis (ZRD) which, as the article I point to says, is common in Husky's. You might want to take a look around the web for ZRD and see if that matches what you're seeing. In this case, since you mention that there are no vets in your area, please go fill out a bit more of your profile. *I* really like to have some idea of who I'm "speaking" with and your location can often give us better clues on which to base our suggestions. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| I'm thinking ZRD, but I would ask your vet. My husky #2 had ZRD. My vet said to either uses zinc supplement or add fish to the dog's diet. Historically in Siberia, huskies were fed fish primarily- fresh in summer, and frozen in winter.
It cleared up after changing my dog's diet. |

| There is a facebook page on ZRD-it is called ZRD in sled dogs. You might want to look them up. My dog does have ZRD, but it needs to be confirmed by a vet. If you just supplement with zinc and do not know if he/she needs it, the zinc could be toxic to your dog.
The best way to find out what is wrong is to have a vet take a skin scraping and start ruling out things as you go. FYI. You should not let this go as it could turn into a sore and then get infected.
Hope your pup is doing better soon. |
