Hey guys! I need help finding a husky proof kennel. I got one of the plastic kennels from Walmart that have the metal doors but he knows how to get the door off. He used to have an all metal kennel but he managed to break it, injuring himself in the process. Any recommendations?

How about something like this?

Or this one has thicker bars.

I have had good luck with metal crates from General Cage. They are made of a bigger gauge wire and have latches and hinges that are simple for people but tougher for dogs to work. Maya has yet to damage the General cage crate, however the petsmart crate (I think it was top paw) she destroyed. Figured out how to open the doors the first day, chained them shut and she figured out she could bend the wires.

If you don't feel like buying a new one, and the plastic one still works, every day when we put Nikolai is his plastic crate, we turn it sideways and put Siku's crate in front of it so it makes it so he can't open the door to get out (the back of the crate is also against a wall). can you just put something heavy like a weight or anything in front of the door just to block him from getting out?

If that doesn't make sense the way I'm explaining it, I would be happy to take a picture for you to get an idea! Its the only way that we can keep him in.

I've tried using bungies to hold it shut and it didn't work. Sadly, I don't have something heavy enough to block it. He's smart. He knows how to scoot his cage. I will look into some of the suggestions that you guys have given.

Hughie, do you know which particular general cage crate you have? Does Maya have room to stand up or turn around? I really think Chess is claustrophobic or simply terrified of kennels because no matter what, he panics in kennels. I've tried desensitizing but we don't seem to get much farther than eating in the kennel with the door open.
