For about the past week and half, Shadow has been drooling a lot. Before thid, I've never noticed any drooling. It'll just drop on the ground or my feet. It's not all of the time, but it's been noticeable. Today I was opening a new bag of treats and within seconds there was a significant wet spot on my ottoman. It was a bit larger than an used card. I've checked his mouth, but didn't notice anything. Is there anything I can do to make it stop or occur less? This hasn't been usual for him.

I know excessive drooling can be a sign of poisoning, Orion got stung by a bee and he drooled hugely for the next few days. Is there anything he could be getting into that may not be agreeing with him?

It can also be a sign of stress or stimulation.

Is it only around food or treats? Could just be stimulation. If it is constant, I would probably call the vet as it can be symptoms of lots of things as well.

The crazy amount of drooling was just with the new treat. All of the other times I've noticed are when he wants to go outside, which is where I see it on the ground or when he's in our bed and we get a few wet spots. Also, sometimes when he lays his head on my leg, it'll get wet without him licking. He does like to chase bugs at night, but he doesn't seem to have any other symptoms and there isn't anything else I can think off that he could have gotten into.

My pup drools a lot, I mean, not as much as a retriever, but quite a bit. It caught me off guard because my first husky never drooled. She was rather prissy when it came to just about everything though. How old is your pup? Mine didn't drool much as a young pup, then got worse, and now seems to get less drooly as he's getting older. Now it's mostly after a drink of water.
