| Ok, so lately the furry woodland creatures have been bold and Bode has gotten into it with a couple opossums lately. My question is, those of you who live in a non-rural neighborhood (which I suspect is a lot), what do you do with the dead animal to dispose of it? I never really thought about it because growing up, my parents live next to state land, so they would just toss it in the woods. Obviously that isn't an option when you live in a more urban area. Gross I know, but I'm curious. |

| take it out to some woods or down the road a ways and toss it, being opossums, make sure they are dead and not just playing dead

| We put the dead animal in a garbage bag, tie it shut and put it in the garbage can we have in the backyard that has a lid that snaps closed. When garbage day comes, it get thrown out. |

| I think we can call our municipal office to have them send someone to remove it safely. Granted the baby bunny we found in the backyard ended up in the garbage bin, so did the dead Robin. Neither of which were caused by our dogs. |

| Yeah, the first Opossum was playing dead and ended up wandering away. We will see about the one from this morning. It's usually dark when it happens, so Anthony takes care of it when he gets home from work and also to give it time to wander away. |

| Ugh. Mishka had his first opossum encounter last night. Thankfully the stupid thing was on the very top of the fence and Mishka couldn't reach it no matter how high he jumped. My fiance grabbed his cane and knocked it into our neighbor's yard. Lol.
I fear the day he gets a hold of one or a squirrel. I'm sure we'd just put it in a garbage bag and toss it with the trash. _________________ |

| I would say if its killed by my dog it would go in the garbage can, if it just kind of shows up, I'd call some authority to come grab it to make sure it didn't die from some weird disease... |

| The thing about the garbage can solution is in this case it would sit in there for a week until garbage day since pickup is Tuesday morning at our house. I can't imagine that it would be smelling great! |

| Are there any stores around that you can drive to and maybe throw it in one of their dumpsters? Or maybe apartment complex's that have dumpsters? Just a thought. |

| Not sure about apartment complexes, there are a couple small ones around, not sure what their trash situation is. The store dumpster idea is good. Thanks! Although that does require putting the dead animal in the car...yuck. lol |

| We've never had this problem. Koda has always eaten his kills whole. If he didn't, they were in the yard so we threw them on the other side of the fence (after we fully killed them if they weren't already dead) and let them decompose naturally. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

I fear the day he gets a hold of one or a squirrel. I'm sure we'd just put it in a garbage bag and toss it with the trash. Funny you say that! About a year ago, there was an opossum on our fence. It scared the sh!t out of me. Juneau and my foster were going nuts trying to get to him. We started to spray him with the hose (didn't have anything within reach to poke him off) and he literally took the house for 5-10 mins! The poor guy did NOT want to let go. I felt so bad that we had to drench him but hey, it's what we had to do to let him go alive. lol Sara, put it in multiple layers of target bags and then seal the deal with a trashbag. I would keep it in my backyard until trash day but make sure Juneau wouldn't go near it. Definitely wouldn't keep it in the garage. You could always see if AC will come pick it up too so you don't have to deal with it for another week. |

| I would first call the vet and asked them in case they want to send it off to be tested for rabies. Loki had several encounters with a raccoon in broad daylight. A neighbor trapped it and destroyed it when he was at work (he works at the humane society). Turned out that it had distemper. |

| When it came the hamster my cat killed - got tossed in the trash can which stunk for a few days. When it came to the baby squirrels that my puppy caught - got ate whole I would just throw them in the trash. Or your neighbors trash at night |
