| Here's a picture of the winning Siberian Husky at Westminister. The dog has beautiful proportions, but I am thinking that many dogs here are cuter! |

| I wonder why it seems all of the winning Huskies in the dog shows have brown eyes? Same thing with the one that one best in Group at the AKC/Eukanuba dog show |

| It's harder to finish a dog with blue/light colored eyes because the color makes the eye appear more round. Even though all colors, bi-eye and parti-eye is allowed in the breed.
Also - all breed judges may or may not come from other breeds where brown eyes are the only thing allowed or where blue eyes specifically are a fault. Even though they aren't "supposed to" do that because our standard allows for all colors - it still does happen especially when judges are new to the standard and breed and they're used to seeing brown eyes for X amount of years they'd been in other breeds. _________________ |

| Please keep in mind that this boy, Highlander's Rumor Has It, is only 11 months old. Though he is a very nice boy you can obviously tell he still has a lot of physical maturing to accomplish. Though the breed judge found him to be the 'best' dog in their opinion in the ring that day does not mean he was necessarily ready to compete amongst the seasoned finished specials in the group ring. His owners, breeders, and handlers have a lot to be proud of in him and I for one am very interested to watch this boy mature and see what the future holds for him.
As for 'blue eyes' though it can be true to an extent, the number 3 Siberian bitch in the nation has primarily blue eyes (she is technically party eyed). So it's not exactly a rule that show dogs with blue eyes don't do well. The thing with blue eyes, most are too round or can appear too round which is a fault in our breed. |

| Seems most high profile show Huskies in the past.....oh 10 years or so haven't been masked, but open faced?? Any truth to this? With a masked Husky, does symmetry matter at all?? |

| That is not the case, there is a multitude of masking varieties. Merlot- 2009 #1 ranked Siberian in the nation has dual bars, her son Maguire is masked with bars, Karnovanda's Tenzing who has been a top 10 Siberian for years has heavy bars and light masking, Tovik's Fashon has a barred face...these are just some of the recent examples of non open faced Siberians. |

| Got it, thanks. maybe just my recent experiences are swaying me, because I'm seeing many more open faced ones around town and in my puppy hunting recently there was mostly unmasked pups. My puppy's litter had only 1/5 masked. I think my recollection of watching WKC shows on tv as a kid every year has open faced Huskies. Oh well. |

| Last years Breed winner at WKC was Topaz's Silver Lining- bi eyed bared face 2011 BOB at WKC Kontoki's A Bend In The Road- half bars 2009 & 2010 BOB at WKC Paragon's Red Red Wine (merlot)- barred face 2008 BOB at WKC Kontoki's Everyday Italian- half bars bi-eyed They are out there- Yes this year has an open face, but masking isn't a make or break it deal, neither is eye color. When it comes down to it the structure and movement of the dog is what counts. If you are puppy hunting, Paragon is out near you, Masqurade is close (lovely barred faces), Galena Creek (bars and masks), Tovik is another near by option as well. |

| Bars are the colored stripes that grace between eyes down the nose. Full bars touch the nose. Double bars mean there are two distinct stripes, solid bar means one solid stripe |

| CH Galena Creek's Dream Keeper 'Tiko' - the sire to my two girls Kenna and Enya- is a good example of a solid bar Can CH Galena Creek's Moon Drifter- Sire to Tiko (above) is a good example of double bars Myeska's Smoking Gun is an open face example and the sire to my girl's mother |

| I don't really see any 'Dark' red & whites or Black ones in the shows winning. Is there a reason? I trying looking at some of the judging specs but didn't fine the Sibe standards. |

| There are lots of them. It's true that grey is very common, but there are black and whites and dark reds. Check out some kennel pages, you will see them.
Sidra - http://sidrasiberians.com/sidra/Our_Dogs.html They even have a REALLY nice white male named Yukon.
Huskavarna - http://huskavarna.net/dogs.html I like I hope you Dance, nice black.
Qudos - http://qudoskennel.wix.com/qudos Dream a Little Dream of Me is a nice black dog, Qudos Hello Clarisse has quite a few BIS and BISS and is a dark red. Her brother, Qudos Little Rascal is also very nice.
Bralin's - http://www.bralinsiberians.com/ourdogs.htm Riley, or Kadians Cold Fusion is a GORGEOUS red. I love him.
THat's just a few kennels. |

My dogs are blushing under all that fur, thank you! Unfortunately, while Chili sure is handsome, he is a bad representative of the breed (if he is full husky. Now on our 2nd attempt to complete that DNA testing, he seems like a poorly bred husky but checking to see if there's any mal lurking in there). The rescue said he looks like the large, blocky huskies coming out of puppy mills in the area. I think Frosti looks like Topaz's Silver Lining, but I'm also not versed in all of the exacting breed standard specifications so the show dog folks may be rolling your eyes at me. teehee I guess there's a difference between what we owners consider "cute" or striking and what a judge would judge a show dog for. Many of the show dogs you guys posted are pretty adorable, though! I guess all we IAHT owners have an unusually adorable bunch?

I like his coloration but he looks like a dawf husky to me... big head, short legs and short back. I prefer the working Husky look better. The only show lines I like is Karnovanda |

THat's just a few kennels. Megan, love the Huskavarna dogs! Qudos too - I see the most adorable Steve on there! Is he oversize or just in pictures I see? Kevin? Just looked at the other breeders and they are pretty darn cute, too! Many have coloring similar to Frosti, which is very unusual in person here in LA (we mostly see black and whites) so she gets quite a bit of attention (and asking if she's a wolf). |

| Rumor is a nice dog, but there were so many better looking dogs there. I think BOB should be given to a dog that is a perfect example of the breed, meaning the dog is filled out and what the Siberian should look like...I can't wait to see him in a couple of years though. |

| The judge felt that Rumor (even though he is young) was the best example fitting the standard on that day.

| Half of he siberians didn't even show up - I truly think things would have been different had Karnovanda, Kontoki and Paragon not been absent. |
