Ok so I've been reading through the forums for a bit and researching but at this point I thought I was just poll the audience and see where this goes.

So I got my puppy Reese at 9 weeks old (currently 13 weeks), he's literally had diarrhea since the day I got him. He started out on Taste of the Wild Grain Free, to which he had diarrhea. His vet moved him to a Hills W/D GI wet food diet to help settle his stomach to which is worked. After about a week, I was told to slowly shift him to a Sensitive Stomach Blue Buffalo Turkey and Potato for Puppy. Continuing with roughly the same ingredients of the Hills but better for him.

We slow transitioned him over about a week to week and a half mixing the Hills and Blue Buffalo(turkey and potato) after a bit the diarrhea got fairly significant so we stopped and moved back to the Hills. After his last vet visit it was recommend that he be moved to Royal Canine High Energy Puppy GI dry food. Which for the most part is working, but its a fairly expensive bag for not a lot of food.

Current: 20 lbs, 3 cups / day, 3 feeding sessions.

So the dilemma is what suggestions are there for a cheaper non Rx food to transfer him to that others think will have a good chance of success? Thank for the help!

Hills Rx food is crap! I hate that vets push it the way they do. I'm glad your looking for a better product. My puppy had loose stool for a couple weeks, but that was probably due to stress and her slow switch to a raw diet. She is on 100% raw now and finally has solid poop.

You should do some research on http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/ to help you find an above average (4 stars or more) dog food and keep him on it for a couple weeks. It can take a while for him to adjust. His system is probably freaking out because his food has changed so much in the last few weeks.

We had trouble when my aunts pup come home from the shelter at about 8 to 10 weeks and our vet claimed the best to try settling a stomach was lamb and rice. We have always boiled ground beef and long grain rice when the dogs were having a loose bowel. Maybe try that and see if the pup firms up and introduce the kibble in very slowly mixed into the rice mixture. Pumpkin is also good for diahhrea and sweet potato i believe, i think i remember reading at one time that sweet potato is a good poop firmer that you dont have to worry about over feeding like the rice which can constipate also. Maybe a protein is bothering also, when i got my two my female not handle chicken we had terrible terrible gas from her. I was suggested using a fish protein base because it was more natural to the northern breeds original diets. I couldnt tell you what brands might have something for you though, i personally use american natural premium right now but may switch in the future, just be sure to check if the brand you go with is all lifestages or adult or puppy. Hopefully someone with more food knowledge and a sensitive dog could send you in a better way. Welcome to the forum and good luck getting your pup adjusted to a food!

What was the protein source of the Taste of the Wild you were feeding?

Try settling his stomach with boiled eggs and a single veggie source (carrots, green beans, peas, something like that). Once things appear normal, try switching to the kibble you decide on (single protein source would be ideal) very slowly. If things revert to diarrhea go back to the eggs. Keep this up until you can find something that works best.

Over feeding can be a culprit of persistent diarrhea if parasites have been ruled out I'd start there. With the girls I was feeding closer to 2 cups spread out over 3-4 feedings per day and watching their weight-

Your transition time can also be too fast. My female takes at MINIMUM 3 weeks to fully transition to a new food. I would imagine puppies have a bit more sensitive tummy especially if there is a slight intolerance or allergy to grain or a protein source.

As Kim noted, eggs are more of a neutral protein source, and huskies in general are notorious for having a slight intolerance at the least to grain. So a bland diet that includes rice may upset your puppy's tummy even more. Since every dog should have at least one BM a day, you should include a fiber source, so Kim's suggestion of carrots, green beans, or green peas is good.

Try cutting out treats and a bland diet of eggs (I do hard boiled eggs) and one of the veggies mentioned. For a growing puppy, I would do about 2 eggs and half cup of veggies, 3 times a day. If everything is OK (no worm or parasites, etc), he should improve within 24 hours. If he does, keep him on the egg bland diet for a few days before introducing a new kibble. Maybe try finding something that is grain free to start. Do a mix of 75% bland to 25% kibble to start. If he still have normal BMs, keep him at the 75/25 mix for a few days before going 50/50 bland to kibble.

When you're looking at kibble, check the calcium to phosphorus rations. Puppy or All-Life Stage food should have a 1.2:1 - 1.5:1 ratio (Ca:P).
