Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Questions about new Pup 2pr9s81

The story is.
Mother is a Siberian
and
Father is an Alaskan.

Im not a Husky expert. But She has some big ears.
Everyone says she will grow into them. But those don't look like a Husky to me. I could be wrong.
What do you guys think?

Also. A few other concerns.

1. She is very very scared of everything around her. I know she is only 8 weeks old, But she gets freaked out over everything.

2. I have only had her for about 2 days now. Sense we got her home. All she ever does is sleep. She wont play. She hasn't eaten very much.

3. When I take her for walks, She wants to hide between my lags as we walk. And she keeps stopping to look behind us. As if shes worried someone is coming up from behind.

4. She also likes to sit down every chance she gets as we are walking. Not a problem, because she is still a baby. I just think its cute lol.

5. Her name... Or any sign of communication for that matter. She pretty refuses to acknowledge anything I say to her. Such as her name. I have said her name to her probably 200 times in 2 days, Her ears don't even move. When I talk at all. she just doesn't pay attention. She doesn't have a hearing problem (i thought she did untill I scared the holy hell out of her by mistake when I made a loud bang.)

Father is an Alaskan husky? Alaskan huskies are really just a well-bred mutt, to put it bluntly Smile They are husky crosses designed to maximize sled-pulling ability. They are not a true recognized breed, but rather a well-planned working dog.

My point is that the ears could very well come from another breed that was crossed with the husky to produce the Alaskan husky, hence why they don't "look husky."

She will more than likely grow into them though Smile

1-4. She's a puppy. All of that is pretty normal Smile Check out the "Brining home your puppy" thread. Nero is experiencing very similar things with his new puppy Smile It'll take her a while to warm up to you and her new surroundings. Just keep easing her through things and reward her greatly as she does things right.

5. Haha-- two things. One, she probably doesn't know her name yet Smile How long has she had it? Did the breeder call her that? She will get it eventually. Two, that's a husky thing Smile Get used to her knowing exactly what you're asking but ignoring it Smile You ain't seen nothing yet!

Welcome to the forum Smile Good luck!
